The Gay Polo League (GPL) is an athletic, adventurous, dedicated and fun loving group. GPL members represent a cross section of ages, abilities, professions and physical types. Some of us have been riding for years and some of us never sat on horse before joining the league. Our common ground lies in our shared desire to meet and engage with other gay men and women while enjoying the challenging and beautiful sport of Polo. Yes, we are passionate about the game of Polo, the thrill of competition and the camaraderie that comes with it. But GPL is about more than just fun and excitement – our goal is to make a positive impact on individual lives and our society at large. For many of us in the LBGT community, team sports were not an option growing up, whether it was out of fear, active discrimination or because that's "just how it was". There were no role models to show us how to be true to ourselves and athletes at the same time. Even today there are hushed stories of gay professional athletes who live in fear of losing their careers if their sexual orientation should come to light. The GPL is about setting an example of out gay professional athlete. We hope to inspire other athletes to come out – and be proud of who they are – while playing the sports they love. In a broader sense, we want to change the way people think about gay athletes and the gay community. The GPL is about helping the world understand that while our sexual orientation describes us, it doesn't define us – we are a viable and meaningful part of our society. And we'd love to have you along for the ride.

The Gay Polo League and New Hope Celebrates are thrilled to announce the four teams competing in the inaugural PRIDE Polo Tournament, taking place Saturday, September 12, at Tinicum Park Polo Club in Erwinna, Pennsylvania.

This exciting new event brings together the worlds of polo, PRIDE, fashion, and community for a spectacular day celebrating inclusion, diversity, and the spirit of competition.

Adding a distinctive touch of style to the field, each team will wear a bespoke team shirt designed by renowned designer Gustavo Larrosa, bringing fashion and polo together in a truly unique celebration of PRIDE.

The Gay Polo League (GPL) is looking forward to participating in the inaugural Polo Pride Event hosted by New Hope Celebrates. The event will take place at the beautiful Tinicum Park Polo Club in Erwinna, Pennsylvania, located approximately 11 miles from New Hope.

New Hope Celebrates (NHC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating and preserving the rich LGBTQ+ history, culture, and community of New Hope, Pennsylvania, and Lambertville, New Jersey. Through signature events, public art, and community initiatives, NHC works year-round to foster visibility and inclusivity while honoring the region’s legacy as one of the nation’s most welcoming LGBTQ+ destinations.
