Our athlete this week is Trey Bonner!

Trey’s hunger for improvement, his work ethic, and his love of training have made him a staple at the gym.

He brings contagious energy to the floor every session, attacks his work with focus, learns as much as he can, and his consistency is paying off with some big time results!

We asked our athletes what motivates them to train. We want to identify the “why” behind our decision to work hard. We’ve got some growing to do, but it takes an elite mindset to build elite athleticism, and at ETS we’re developing both.

Connecting our work to our core values, our competitive goals, and our sources of joy helps us turn momentary inspiration into long term discipline.

That consistent discipline will beat the peaks and valleys of motivation every time.

Team Voss are our athletes of the week!

Gabriella, Julian, and Quinton have each been 3 of the hardest working kids here all summer.

They’ve seen outstanding progress, highlighted by Gabriella’s HUGE personal best numbers in Speed, Acceleration, Agility, Strength, and Jumping this week!

Seeing the kind of well rounded growth that they have over only 2 months is a testament to their focus as well as their effort and commitment to training well every time they step into the gym. There’s big things ahead for the whole crew!

We owe an additional shoutout to Coach Bryce Gross ! He’s been a huge blessing to our staff all summer and we’re looking forward to seeing him tear it up for GVSU XC and Track & Field this year!!

With God all things are possible.

“Your only limitations are those you set upon yourself” - Roy T. Bennett

Knowing these truths, nothing should stop us from aspiring to be the best we can be.

Owen Emerson!

Owen’s effort, focus, and attention to detail have turned into an elite summer of training. Improving his top sprint speed and his max strength leading up to the first week of football season

The energy he brings day in and day out sets the tone for the athletes around him and elevates the level of the entire training session.

His leadership, competitiveness and motivation have made a big impact here at the gym, and we’re fired up to see him bring that impact to the field for Grand Ledge Football this season!

why is upper body training valuable for developing athleticism?

Even in non contact sports, a powerful upper body can make a big difference for an athlete.

1️⃣ Early on, upper body strength training can help athletes develop the coordination, movement patterns, and body control necessary for effective sprinting, jumping and changing directions, as well as executing skills involved with their sport.

2️⃣ As the athlete develops, using explosive and intense upper body training methods can help improve motor unit recruitment and force production without placing additional impact on the lower body. This makes it especially useful for in season training to maintain explosive power over the course of long competition seasons.

goes to the Burmeister Boys!!

These two athletes have built a disciplined routine, training with outstanding focus and consistency week in and week out.

Mecayden’s attention to detail and commitment to learning excellent technique helps him execute with surgical precision as an athlete new to the weight room.

Atticus’s high motor and competitiveness helps elevate the standard of his sessions every time he trains. His desire to grow makes the athletes around him better too.

They’ve both been elite examples of traits that our culture at ETS is built on!
