⛸️ What Your RRFSC Coach Wishes You Knew About… PRACTICING! ⛸️

We’re back with another installment of our series from Skating Director & Coach Katie! 🎀

As coaches, we hear these questions all the time:

💭 “I don’t know what to practice on my own!”
💭 “Why am I/my child not improving as quickly as I’d like?”
💭 “Why am I/my child not placing as well as I’d like at competition?”

One of the biggest differences we see in skater progress? Quality practice time! ✨

Practice isn’t just about getting more time on the ice—it’s about using that time intentionally. Having a plan, working on the skills your coach has assigned, repeating things correctly, and challenging yourself appropriately can make a HUGE difference in your progress.

📋 Check out today’s graphic for an example of how to structure your practice time, from warm-up and skating skills to jumps, spins, program practice, and special skills.

And remember: you don’t have to know exactly what to do on your own! If you’re unsure how to structure your practice or what you should be working on, ASK YOUR COACH! We want to help you make the most of every minute on the ice. ❤️

🍂 AND… IT’S OCTOBER PRACTICE INCENTIVE TIME! 🍂

This month, we’re challenging our skaters to get out there and practice!

🌳 For every 30 minutes of practice outside of a lesson or group class, put your name on a leaf and add it to our October Practice Tree in the rink!

🍁 The more you practice, the fuller our tree gets!

And there’s a little extra incentive… 👀
🏆 Two winners will EACH receive a signed Stars on Ice cast poster + a $25 Lululemon gift card!

So grab your skates, make a plan, and let’s fill that tree! 🌳⛸️🍂

Practice makes progress! ❤️

⛸️ What Your RRFSC Coach Wishes You Knew About… ⛸️

We’re kicking off a new series from Skating Director & Coach Katie! 🎀

As coaches, we see the little things that can make a BIG difference in a skater’s progress - and sometimes, those things aren’t always obvious to skaters or parents, especially when they are just getting starting..

In this series, Coach Katie will be sharing tips, advice, and things she wishes every RRFSC skater and family knew about everything from equipment to practice habits and beyond!

✨ First up: SKATE SHARPENING ✨

How often should you sharpen your skates? How do you know when they need it? Does where you get them sharpened really matter?

Check out this for some answers! 👀
