Alright, I had fun on the lathe today with this quick project. I was in need of an extension for a 10mm shanked Forstner bit that would accommodate this project. I could not find anything that suited my needs and was priced right…so I made one.
Don’t get me wrong…this was no amazing feet, but it did feel good making it. I used a segment of scrap stainless steel rifle barrel that I cut off from a previous job. I cut to desired dimension, bored, drilled, and tapped the tool head. I installed the bit and secured it with 6 set screws. It’s perfect and cost me only about an hour of my time! And now I have the tool for future needs. Thats a good day!
In the future, I plan to make bushing sets for the tool, as needed. For this project, I only needed to make a few passes to reach my goal. With a sharp bit, slow passes, and a steady hand, the job was finished in seconds.
Stay tuned for the restoration of this Re*****on Model 11 I’ve been working on. Happy hunting!
