Good afternoon,
As we close out our 25-26 season we headed down to Tacoma these last two weekends and competed in the annual Spring Thaw Co-Ed Tournament. This is our second year of competing, and we were able to bring two teams down, which is great.
The first weekend hosted the Advanced and the Novice Tournaments.
Our very own Dave Moore played with a team called 4th Line Hockey in the advanced tournament. Dave got 4 goals and an assist
His team finished 3-1 in the group play going:
9-3 Loss vs ARMY
5-1 Win
5-1 Win
11-0 Win
This got them into the championship and a rematch against the Army team who Dave also knows very well.
This time they were able to pull off a 5-2 win, taking home the championship.
Next up was the Novice Tournament.
This was our first time bringing a Novice team into the tournament and we did very well.
3-0 Win
5-2 Win
3-1 Loss
2-1 Win
This was enough to get us into the championship game where unfortunately we were outdone by a Tricities team that was unbeatable. We ended up losing this one 5-0.
On the team we had members from Puget Sound Fire, Central Pierce Fire, Port of Seattle, AMR and additional friends from the local Adult Hockey Leagues.
This weekend was the Intermediate Tournament.
Last year we went 2-1-1 and just missed out on the championship game. The skill level of this tournament keeps going up every year, but we were very competitive and put a good team together.
5-4 Win
10-4 Win
4-4 Tie
Going into the 4th game all we had to do was win and we would advance to the championship game. Unfortunately, the weekend took its toll on us, and we couldn't finish dropping game four 6-4.
We finished 2-1-1 again just missing the championship.
We had members from Puget Sound Fire, Snoqualmie Fire, Lacey Fire, Retired KCM1, JBLM Fire and AMR represented on the team as well as friends from the local adult leagues.
And we also had three family members playing on the team this year which was cool.
This tournament takes a lot out of you, but we all had a great time, and it is cool to continue to grow the hockey club and get more Fire and EMS members out there skating.
Once again Major Inskeep was in attendance for as many games as he could make so we will be posting pictures as we get them. Thank you as always Major!
