2026… what a way to finish. 🖤💛🥎

This chapter of the Yakima Diamond Cats came to an end exactly the way you dream it up, champions.

We closed the season by winning our final two tournaments, but today’s championship was one we’ll never forget. Down 5-0 to the Angels out of Tri-Cities, these girls never blinked. They fought back inning by inning to earn a 7-6 victory in a complete team effort.

Ainsley Johnson delivered a fearless, clutch performance in the circle when we needed it most. Then, in our final at-bat, Brooklyn Root and Madi Statler came through with two of the biggest hits of the season to complete an incredible comeback.

The offense was relentless all weekend, hitting .429 as a team, led by Leila Cook, who finished 7-for-10 at the plate. We outscored our opponents 66-16, playing Diamond Cats softball from the first pitch to the last.

But this season is about more than championships.

Over the last eight years, this program has built something that has become increasingly rare in travel softball. While many teams change rosters every season, the core of this group has stayed together, growing up as teammates, competitors, and friends. That chemistry has allowed this small team from Yakima to consistently compete with, and beat some of the largest organizations in the Northwest.

Not bad for a little team out of Yakima.

To every player, parent, and supporter who has been part of this journey over the years, thank you. The wins and trophies are special, but the relationships, memories, and lifelong friendships are what will last long after the final out.

This version of the Diamond Cats has left a legacy. Once a Diamond Cat… always a Diamond Cat. 💎🐾

This is a special group of players, parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles and even some boyfriends. We are so blessed to have been able to have all these great years together

How we gather is a big reason of why we have been able to stay together and prevail through all adversity. We are tight knit, cohesive and we are friends that feel like family.

SELAH – There was no late night or early morning haze for the two-time state champion Yakima Diamond Cats on the field Friday going into Saturday.

Coming off a tournament title at the Summer Meltdown in Chehalis last weekend, Yakima will host the Hot August Nights at Selah’s Carlon Park. The event opens Friday and wraps up late Sunday afternoon.

2nd tourney championship of the season. This coming weekend at Hot August Nights we will look to cap off the Diamond Cats history with one final championship

CHEHALIS – The Yakima Diamond Cats rolled through the Summer Meltdown tournament bracket Sunday, capturing the championship with one more event for the two-time state champions.

Championship #2 on the season and improved our record to 22-9. Amazing defensive plays, dominant pitching and timely hitting proved to be enough this weekend. Way to Diamond Cats.

Humbled but not done yet.

Limited to four hits and committing just as many errors, the Diamond Cats fell to the Quad City Lady Hitmen 14-0 in the winner’s bracket semifinals Friday morning.

That’s what the Yakima Diamond Cats did Thursday morning en route to a 4-1 victory against the KC Bombers of Kansas City, Mo., in the USSSA Southeast Nationals.
