It came down to the wire on Tuesday, as West Valley Varsity Rams grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 6-5, over East Valley Varsity Red Devils. West Valley Varsity Rams were down 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Madisen Statler ‘26 homered to right field, scoring three runs.
Statler ‘26 collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Statler ‘26 hit a home run to right field in the seventh inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the first inning.
West Valley Varsity Rams opened the scoring in the first after Taryn Bernd ‘26 drew a walk, scoring one run.
East Valley Varsity Red Devils took the lead in the top of the third inning after Sophiya Castaneda doubled down the left field line, and Tia Ramynke grounded out, each scoring one run.
Ainsley Johnson ‘26 flew out, which helped West Valley Varsity Rams tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.
East Valley Varsity Red Devils took the lead in the top of the fourth. Madelyn Ike doubled, scoring one run, to give East Valley Varsity Red Devils the advantage, 3-2.
West Valley Varsity Rams made the score 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh after Calleigh Sinnes ‘27 singled, scoring one run, and Statler ‘26 homered to right field, scoring three runs.
Johnson ‘26 earned the win for West Valley Varsity Rams. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two. Ramynke took the loss for East Valley Varsity Red Devils. The right-handed pitcher went six and one-third innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits, striking out five and walking four.
West Valley Varsity Rams were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Bernd ‘26 made the most plays with 10.
