You may notice are posts look a little different this year. We are going to be making a conscious effort to not show faces of our younger students. With the recent rulings about AI and the way images found online can be used, we don't feel comfortable showing off our adorable kiddos' faces on our very public platform.
Studio K's page has a large reach, usually averaging 50k-100K views or more a month across our social platforms. That's a lot of eyes we don't have control over. We'd like to think we live in a world where people see kids having fun at dance class, smile and move on. But unfortunately, that's not the reality we live in in 2026.
We have used a social media waiver for a few years now and will continue to do so. There will definitely be times through out the year we show dancers' faces in media but we are going to make sure those times are well thought out and done with care. When we would like to use younger dancers in a post or ad, we will directly communicate to parents to make sure that's okay, even with a signed waiver.
We always have pictures and videos from class we want to share. We will be sharing those in our private Studio K Band. We are implementing questions people have to answer before they get permission to join which will ensure everyone enrolled in our Band has a direct connection to a Studio K student.
We will continue to share photos and videos of our older students. Most of them have their own social media presence and they always have the right to tell us no thank you to be featured.
We have been firm believers in keeping our studio costume, choreography and music choices age appropriate for the last 22 years. We don't want our students growing up too soon...and this is another way we can do our part.
