Since 1973 We also teach students the responsible use of wild lands and concern for the continual preservation of these areas for future generations.

Founded in 1973, Wilderness Adventures provides teenagers with the opportunity to travel the world with outstanding leaders, participate in once in a life time actives and develop leadership and self-confidence, self reliance and lasting group leadership skills. Teenagers will also learn the skills for a lifetime of safely enjoying the outdoors; and offers them a fun outdoor experience relevant to your life beyond the outdoors.

Teachers, what could your students learn together if you took them outside for a few days?

Maybe it’s backpacking, building leadership skills, or getting to know each other away from the usual routines of school.

This fall, students from St. Joseph’s School in Seattle backpacked through North Cascades National Park with Wilderness Adventures (pictured here).

Back at school, their teacher, Anton, made time for students to talk about what they experienced and connect those moments in the wilderness to their lives in the classroom, encouraging them to recognize their own growth, learn from each other’s perspectives, and carry those lessons into everyday life.

As a high school student, Lydia chose a Wilderness Adventures trip to Yellowstone over another summer of volleyball camp. She signed up in September, and suddenly had an entire school year to prepare for something completely different.

Years later, that experience is part of what brought her back to Wilderness Adventures as our Admissions and Community Engagement Manager.
