WELCOME BACK! Jonathan “Jonny” Souter is JHSC’s new Alpine Program Director!

A longtime Jackson resident, educator, former JHSC coach, and lifelong athlete, Jonny brings a powerful combination of alpine coaching experience, classroom leadership, outdoor education, and deep community connection to the Alpine Program Director role.

Jonny returns to JHSC after spending 12 years coaching within the Alpine program, including leadership roles as Head U14 Alpine Coach and Head J4/5 Coach. In 2012, he was named Intermountain Division Coach of the Year in recognition of his commitment to athlete development.

Most recently, Jonny has spent the past decade in education as a math teacher, advisor, and department leader with Teton County School District.

“I am honored and excited to return to JHSC in this new role,” said Souter. “The Club has played an important role in my life and in the lives of so many athletes and families in this community. I look forward to working with the Alpine staff, athletes, parents, and Club leadership to continue building a strong, positive, and development-focused program.”

Congratulations to our outgoing Alpine Program Director, Kristin Waddle, on receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the Intermountain Division! 🎉

This well-deserved honor recognizes Kristin’s years of dedication, leadership, and service to alpine ski racing across our region. Her impact on JHSC student-athletes, coaches, families, and the broader ski community has been tremendous, and we are grateful for the energy, care, and commitment she has poured into the growth and quality of Alpine skiing.

Thank you, Kristin, for all you have done for JHSC and for helping shape the next generation of alpine student-athletes. We are so proud to celebrate this recognition with you!

A huge THANK YOU to Grow Huts! 🙌

This incredibly generous donation was made possible by the Poduska family (Pam, Greg, Tracy, Hayden, and Lena) along with the Mortensens (Duane, Kristin, and Nathan): see photos below.

"Richie's Cabin for the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club's Nordic Program has been donated by the family of Richard Poduska to honor his enthusiasm for life long athletic engagement and the development of young athletes."

Thanks to the generosity of GrowHuts, JHSC was able to replace a dilapidated cabin with a brand-new custom Junior Cabin at the Trail Creek Nordic Training Center. Our Junior Nordic student-athletes now have a clean, welcoming space to gather, gear up, and make the most of their time at Trail Creek Ranch.

An additional thank you to Rick Hunt (Hall of Fame Class of 2022) for all the heavy lifting, site preparation, and technical building moving.

Congratulations to Lucas Wilmot, recipient of an award from the JHSC High Performance Fund.

The JHSC High Performance Fund provides financial assistance to JHSC student-athletes who are performing at an elite level. JHSC recognizes that great athletic success often comes with a significant financial burden, and the goal of the HPF is to help alleviate some of the pressure that comes with pursuing ambitious athletic goals.

Lucas, a Nordic skier competing for the The University of Utah Utah Ski Team, continues to represent the strength of the JHSC pathway at the highest levels of the sport. Named to the D Team of the Stifel U.S. Cross Country Ski Team for the 2025-26 season, Lucas has shown the talent, work ethic, and commitment required to compete among the nation’s top developing athletes.

We are proud to support Lucas as he continues to pursue excellence in Nordic skiing and build on the foundation he developed through JHSC.

Congratulations to Elijah Weenig, recipient of an award from the JHSC High Performance Fund.

The JHSC High Performance Fund supports JHSC student-athletes who are performing at an elite level and pursuing ambitious athletic goals. JHSC recognizes that the path to high-level competition requires significant commitment and financial investment, and the HPF helps ease that burden for athletes working toward the next level.

As a Nordic athlete, Elijah represents the dedication and perseverance required to compete at a high level. His commitment to training, continued development, and personal excellence reflects the purpose of the High Performance Fund and the strength of the JHSC Nordic pathway.

The Betty Woolsey Endowment was established in honor of Betty Woolsey, a member of the 1936 U.S. Women’s Olympic Alpine Ski Team and a lifelong advocate for skiing. Through this award, her legacy of excellence, determination, and personal achievement continues to support JHSC athletes across Alpine, Freeride, and Nordic.

As a FIS Alpine student-athlete, Lucy brings discipline, courage, and commitment to the demands of high-level ski racing. Competing at this level requires focus, resilience, and a deep willingness to keep improving, and Lucy continues to show the kind of dedication this scholarship was created to recognize.

We are proud to celebrate Lucy and the effort, character, and competitive spirit she brings to JHSC Alpine.

The Betty Woolsey Endowment honors Betty Woolsey, a member of the 1936 U.S. Women’s Olympic Alpine Ski Team and a lifelong advocate for skiing. Her legacy continues through this award, which supports JHSC athletes across Alpine, Freeride, and Nordic who demonstrate excellence, determination, and personal achievement.

As a snowboarder, Owen brings creativity, commitment, and drive to the mountain. His dedication to progression, his willingness to push himself, and his passion for the sport reflect the spirit of this scholarship and the values of the JHSC community. He put in so much work both on and off the slopes this season; we are so proud to celebrate Owen and recognize the energy, focus, and determination he brings to JHSC.

Taylor's season was a powerful example of perseverance. After navigating many challenges, she continued to show up with focus, determination, and belief in what was possible. Her 10th place finish at U18 Nationals reflects not only her talent as an Alpine skier, but also the resilience and commitment she brings to her sport.

We are proud to recognize Taylor and celebrate the strength, growth, and achievement she demonstrated this season and the her longterm growth in a most demanding sport!
