Every JHSC athlete starts somewhere.

Maybe it’s their first day on skis. A coach showing them something new. New teammates who eventually become old friends.

Then one winter becomes another.

Skills grow. Confidence grows. The mountains become familiar. And what started as a new experience can become a lifelong connection to skiing, snowboarding, the outdoors, and this community.

JHSC has been doing this since 1938.

Generations of Jackson Hole kids have grown up skiing and snowboarding with the Club. They’ve trained here, competed here, made lifelong friends—and many have come back years later as coaches, volunteers, and parents.

The programs have grown. The sports have changed. Jackson Hole certainly has.

But nearly nine decades later, hundreds of local kids are still finding their place in the mountains through JHSC.

Four programs. One Club.

Alpine. Backcountry. Freeride. Nordic.

Different sports, different terrain, and different ways to spend a winter—but everyone is part of JHSC.

Across all four programs, athletes learn to work hard, be good teammates, compete, have fun, and keep showing up. And at the end of the season, they all come back together as one Club.

Last season, JHSC awarded $173,731 in scholarships to student-athletes.

For some families, that support is what makes a season possible.

It means a first day on snow. A season spent learning from coaches and teammates. The chance to train, compete, progress, and build a connection to winter sports that can last a lifetime.

For generations, scholarships and the people who support them have helped open that door for JHSC athletes. Today, need-based scholarships help remove financial barriers for local families, while merit scholarships recognize excellence in skiing and snowboarding.

There are a few dates every JHSC family knows 🗓️

Ski Swap. Winter Carnival. Rum Cup. Moose Chase. Jackson Hole Downhill. End of Season. July 4th.

They’re chances to race, cheer, volunteer, catch up with old friends, and bring the next generation along. Year after year, they’ve become part of the rhythm of JHSC—and winter ❄️ in Jackson Hole.

That’s what makes them traditions.

Every trophy has a name. Every name has a story. 🏆

For generations, JHSC athletes have trained, competed, grown up, and added their names to the Club’s history. Some have returned as coaches. Others have watched younger siblings, teammates, and the next generation follow behind them.

The trophies stay on the shelf. What they represent gets passed down.

Our coaches build confidence, encourage perseverance, and help student-athletes discover what they’re capable of—on the mountain and beyond. Many were once JHSC athletes themselves, carrying forward generations of knowledge, tradition, and a shared love of sport.

Mountain Traditions

For many JHSC student-athletes, a love of the mountains begins at home. It starts with parents, family, and friends who share favorite trails, siblings who grow up training side by side, friends who become like family, and community members who pass along their knowledge, encouragement, and love of winter.

Families and friends ski together, cheer together, volunteer together, and build memories that extend far beyond youth becoming traditions woven into the fabric of our being. We crave winter’s snowy flakes knowing that fun is close at hand.

During Old Bill’s Giving Season, help JHSC continue creating opportunities for families and friends to discover their lifelong connection to the mountains and keep our mountain traditions alive.
