Another Great Week at Keep My Hood Good! 🌟

Another week of learning, growing, and creating meaningful experiences!

Here’s a glimpse of what we accomplished:

📚 Substance Abuse Awareness: Jackson Madison Prevention Coalition educated our children on the consequences of substance abuse, including its financial, health, legal, and social effects, as well as the impact on others.

🏛️ Civic Duties: We discussed local legislators positions, their responsibilities, and the importance of exercising our right to vote.

✏️ Academic Enrichment: We studied the Underground Railroad, practiced penmanship, writing in complete sentences, and worked on math.

📖 Bible Study: Skyline Church of Christ led lessons from the Book of Ruth, Psalm 34:4-6, and Matthew 6:19-21.

🍽️ New Experiences: We wrapped up with a trip to Chick-fil-A! For the majority of our children, this was their FIRST time eating there. Sometimes it’s the simple experiences that create the biggest smiles and lasting memories!

At Keep My Hood Good, we’re about more than after-school activities. We’re building knowledge, character, confidence, and exposing our children to new experiences.

🌟 Another Great Week at Keep My Hood Good! 🌟

Our children continued learning, growing, and having fun!

🦷 Career Development: We explored the career of a dental hygienist and learned about proper brushing techniques, the importance of flossing, and what happens when we don’t take care of our teeth. Each month, our children receive dental hygiene supplies, including toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, and mouthwash, to support healthy smiles! 😁

📚 Reading & Spelling: The children worked on spelling to strengthen their reading abilities.

🧪 STEM Learning: Scholars from Madison Academic Magnet High School and Early College High School led a fun STEM activity, challenging the children to build towers using marshmallows and toothpicks!

➗ Peer-to-Peer Learning: Our children worked together to strengthen their understanding of decimals and fractions.

🏃🏽 Play & Social Development: We enjoyed a fun game of freeze tag on the playground at Conger Park!

🎂 Birthday Celebration: We wrapped up the week celebrating Jordyn’s 13th birthday! Happy Birthday, Jordyn! 🥳🎉

At Keep My Hood Good, we believe in developing the whole child through education, career exploration, healthy habits, teamwork, and meaningful experiences. Every week is another opportunity to learn, grow, and shine! 💚

🌟 Meet the Faces of Keep My Hood Good! 🌟

Behind everything we do are the young people who make our work meaningful. ❤️

Today, we’re proud to introduce HarMoni, one of the bright young faces of Keep My Hood Good!

Through learning, life skills, community experiences, and opportunities to grow, she is discovering that her story, her voice, and her future matter.

We’re excited to watch HarMoni learn, grow, and become the person she is meant to be.

This is why we do what we do. This is Keep My Hood Good. 💚

📚 Another Week of Learning at Keep My Hood Good!

Our children continued their Black History studies by watching an informational TV clip on the American West & Black Cowboys 🤠📺.

📖 Madison Academic High School Scholars made learning fun by identifying nouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs ending in -ing, singular/plural nouns, and proper nouns—and then putting them to use in a short, funny story! ✏️😂

📖 We also worked on reading, reading comprehension, and writing to strengthen our academic skills.

🚫 Making Good Choices: Jackson Madison Prevention Coalition taught “Drugs, Drinks & Choices.”

🎮 And yes…we had some FREE TIME! Because social-emotional development also means having time to relax, connect, play, and enjoy being children . 💚

At Keep My Hood Good, learning happens in many ways! 💚

🌟 Another Great Week at Keep My Hood Good! 🌟

This week was filled with learning, faith, new experiences, and celebration!

🏥 Madison County Health shared valuable information with our youth.

🐔🐰 We visited a North Jackson neighborhood home, where our youth had their first experience touching and holding chickens and rabbits and feeding fish! What a fun new experience!

📖 Our bi-weekly Bible Study, facilitated by Shea Brown of Skyline Church of Christ, focused on Psalm 119:9-11, reminding us of the importance of keeping God’s Word in our hearts.

✏️ Ms. Donna worked with our youth on penmanship helping build those academic skills.

🎉 And, of course, we celebrated! Happy 9th Birthday, Hazel, and Happy 12th Birthday, Parrish! 🎂🎈

At Keep My Hood Good, every week is an opportunity to learn, grow, experience something new, and build community! ❤️💚

Two Generations, One Community, One Mission.

💙 Meet Raylan! 💙

We’re excited to welcome 8-year-old Raylan to the Keep My Hood Good family! 🌟

Raylan is a second-generation Keep My Hood Good participant. His dad was once a part of our program, and now Raylan is continuing that connection with us. What a beautiful reminder that the work we do can make an impact that reaches from one generation to the next. 💙

📚 Another Week of Learning! 📚

What a great week of growth and new experiences for our Keep My Hood Good family!

💨 Va**ng Awareness — The Jackson Madison Prevention Coalition stopped by to teach us about the real effects of va**ng. Thank you for helping our youth make informed choices!

🍽️ Life Skills in the Kitchen — We learned how to prep, cook & serve our daily dinners — and just as important, how to clean up afterward! 🧽

📖 Academics — We put in work on reading, reading comprehension & math.

🚗 Road to the Permit — Our 15-year-old is studying the TN Driver's Manual to prepare for the permit test. We're cheering her on! 🙌

Every week, we're building skills, knowledge, and confidence. Thank you to our partners and supporters who make it all possible. ❤️

🌟 Our First Week Back! 🌟

We’re excited to be back at Keep My Hood Good! This week was filled with team building, behavior assessments, learning, and preparation for a successful year.

🎒 We also had the opportunity to issue school backpacks and supplies donated by Snatched Waxing & Aesthetics to help our youth get ready for the school year. Thank you for supporting our young people!

🤝 Our youth practiced how to properly shake hands and introduce themselves—important skills that build confidence and prepare them for future opportunities.

🙏 And, most importantly, we took time to pray together daily, asking for guidance, wisdom, and a blessed year ahead.
