A recent 2025 study published on PubMed Central found a significant negative association between physical activity and job burnout in nurses, meaning the nurses who exercised more consistently experienced lower levels of burnout and emotional exhaustion.
That should not surprise anyone in the medical field.
When you spend your life taking care of everyone else through long shifts, high stress, and constant demands, you need an outlet too.
This is why I believe so strongly in healthcare professionals prioritizing their own health and fitness. Not to become elite athletes, but to have something that helps keep them physically and mentally grounded.
You can’t continuously pour into others while completely neglecting yourself.
