🥋 Promotion Day at Striking Cobra School of Taekwondo! 🐍

Today we celebrated several students advancing to Yellow Belt and Yellow Belt with Green Stripe.

While every promotion is important, there is something special about these early ranks. Starting something new is often the hardest part. In the beginning, everything feels awkward. Techniques are unfamiliar. Mistakes are frequent. Progress can be difficult to see.

But growth begins when we keep showing up anyway.

These students have taken those first steps, built a foundation, and earned their advancement through consistent effort and perseverance. The journey to black belt is made one class at a time, and every great martial artist started exactly where they are now.

Congratulations to all of our students on their promotion. We are proud of your hard work and excited to see where your journey leads next.

🐍🥋 Proud of our students for crushing it last weekend in Lynchburg!

Our team showed tremendous heart, discipline, and true fighting spirit. Each of our competitors earned 1st Place in sparring (겨루기 - gyeorugi)!

In forms competition, our eldest competitor, Alaina, brought home 1st Place, while our other two competitors each earned 2nd Place honors.

Most importantly, every student placed in every event entered. We are proud of their effort, sportsmanship, and warrior spirit.

Congratulations to our students, and thank you to Bushido Dragons Karate for hosting a great tournament! 🏆🐍

The Andrea Bell Memorial Classic is an open martial arts tournament for students to compete in kata, sparring, weapons kata, and grappling. They will compete based on age, gender and rank.

Instructor Appreciation Post! 💙💙💙

Meet Connie Arrington! 💙
She is the Head Instructor and Owner of Striking Cobra School of Tae Kwon Do at Jackson Area Family Activity Center 🥋

Connie began her Tae Kwon Do journey 47 years ago and has traveled throughout Canada and Ohio to expand her knowledge and refine her martial arts skills. She holds the rank of 9th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Jujitsu — a lifetime of dedication to the art and discipline of martial arts.

Connie loves teaching and especially enjoys watching students transform as they gain confidence, awareness, and skills that prepare them not just for class, but for real-life situations.

Outside of the dojang, Connie enjoys motorcycling, fishing, camping, pickleball, and cooking. She is a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, serves as Secretary of the local chapter Redeemed Riders, and attends Faith Ministry Center and Friendship Baptist Church.

Fun Fact: Don’t ever ask Connie to drive you up a high mountain — you’ll only get so far! ⛰️😄
Favorite Color: Blue 💙

Connie is truly grateful for the opportunity to teach martial arts at JAFAC. She appreciates the amazing staff and loves the welcoming environment where people of all ages can grow and develop both mind and body.

Nothing about this was easy. 🥋
Three of our students at Striking Cobra School of Tae Kwon Do have officially advanced! That first rank is earned through effort—learning the basics, accepting correction, and choosing to keep going when things get hard.
This advancement marks the start of real training and the foundation for everything that comes next. We’re proud of the focus and determination these students showed to reach this milestone.
Thank you to Grandmaster Connie Arrington for her continued leadership and guidance within our school!
