This 8th-grade group went 3–0 again this weekend at our home tournament at Ellsworth Community College, finishing undefeated in both home tournaments with an overall record of 6–0.

This team is the definition of unselfish, team-first basketball. They have a bright future ahead as they begin their high school careers next season, and it’s going to be fun to watch what they can accomplish together over the next four years.

We had a great tournament this weekend with a lot of good games! It takes a team to put these together and make them run smoothly. This weekend went about as well as it could have! Thank you to Nate Forsyth (ECC Athletic Director) for teaming up with me and putting this together. Thank you to his entire team helping set up, run the concessions, take admissions, and tear down. Thanks to Coach Bender and his players for running the scores tables and interacting with the kids throughout the day. Thank you to all of the officials for working many games each and keeping the kids safe out on the floor. Thank you to all the coaches and teams that participated and played some great games! And last but not least, thank you to all the parents and family members that support these kids and help them live out their dream of basketball!

We had some great basketball at our home tournament at Ellsworth Community College this weekend! The Iowa Falls teams represented our community very well! The 5th grade CBC team went 3-0 to win their first tournament, the 6th grade CBC team went 2-1, and the 8th graders IFA Blazers went 3-0 to bring home the medal! To say the 5th graders were excited for their first medal is an understatement! Full Swing from Ft Dodge went 3-0 to win the 6th grade division!

The 8th grade Blazers did an AWESOME job at our home tournament at Ellsworth Community College this weekend! They went 3-0 against some tough competition to bring home another medal. This group defines unselfish play and are a lot of fun to watch! These boys have some fun days ahead of them together on the court!

The pork burgers are cooking! Swing by Hy-Vee or across from Dairy Queen on Hwy 65 to support the 7th and 8th grade Blazers Basketball Teams with a free will donation! The ECC Men’s Basketball Team will be helping as well! Swing by for some great food and meet the players!

Come enjoy delicious food while supporting a fantastic group of kids as they prepare for the upcoming season. Your appetite helps make a difference—don’t miss out!

This week closed the book on our second season of the IFA Blazers program. This was our first time having both a 7th and 8th grade team. We started the first week of November and had our final tournament on March 1. Both grades were scheduled to attend right around 10 tournaments. Unfortunately the weather cut us short on a few of these. These kids learn so much from the Ellsworth men’s basketball program. Thank you to Tre, Hugh, Rav, Willie, Ryland, Sam, and Rolling for all the time they put in for these kid, all the knowledge they shared, and the role models they became!

A special thank you to Coach Yuta for all the time he put in, all the planning he did, and all of the amazing knowledge he shared with the kids! It is hard to believe Yuta is only 19. This guy has so much knowledge and an amazing understanding of the game of basketball! He has a heck of a coaching career ahead of him and I promise he will have a lot of fans in Iowa Falls when it happens!

Another special thank you to Coach Bender for making this all possible! Thank you for overseeing all of this, sharing your knowledge, giving advise (especially the advice you have given me), and the interest you show in the youth of our community and the success they have! You have made this program very special!

Thank you to Nate Forsyth (ECC Athletic Director) for the use of their facilities and all the scheduling to make our practice times happen! Thank you again for partnering with us on our first tournament and we are looking forward to hosting more next year!

Last but not least, thank you to all the parents that volunteer their time to coach these kids! This program would not be possible without you!

We are looking forward to year 3 and are hoping to expand the program even more for next year!
