There is a difference between fat burning and fat loss.
Fasted cardio does burn more fat during the session. That part is true. Your body is running low on glycogen so it turns to fat as its primary fuel source.
But fat burning during exercise is not the same as fat loss.
Fat loss depends on your total calorie deficit over time. Not on whether you burned more fat during a specific workout.
When you do fasted cardio your body uses more fat for fuel in that session but tends to compensate later in the day by burning less fat at rest. The net result by the end of the day is essentially the same as fed cardio.
The research consistently shows that total fat loss over 24 hours is nearly identical between fasted and fed cardio when total calories are matched.
If you enjoy training fasted, great. If you train better with food in you, also great.
What matters for fat loss is your calorie deficit. Not the time of day you eat before training.
