Been another week of changing plans and switching gears…. This season has been a challenge when it comes to the weather! Tuesdays tuna trip had to cancel, Wednesday we fished in the river for salmon and had a great day! Thursdays tuna trip turned into a buoy 10 salmon trip. We ran all over and managed 5 keepers but had a lot of opportunities. Friday was a fun day! We started off with deepwater bottom fish and smashed some big lingcod and got our limits on 2 drifts with constant action. Then we ran out to the tuna grounds. 5-6 hours later we only had 1 fish! Then one of the guys spotted a little birdnado so we clear the troll gear and ran over to them, slid in and the bite went wide open everyone hooked up right away and we landed 12 before the bite died. So we did a little running around and spotted more birds to slide in on. This time the fish were all pigs! We landed 5 more before getting spooked on one of the bait reels and the bite died and we had to head for the barn. Unfortunately we had the starboard engine go out 3 miles from the tips. So we added a nice little dinner cruise to the last hour of the day heading in at 8 knots. So the Outlaw is in the shop and had to cancel Saturdays and Sundays trips. Fingers crossed it’s a quick fix! Thanks to all that switched plans and still went out with me and to those that had to cancel we hope to see you in September or next season!
