Buki dori (seizing a weapon) is the middle bridge between today’s Aikido practice and its origins as a weapon’s focused system. Your first practice should be understanding how to use your weapons, then how retain your weapon and how to take a weapon used against you, last but not least empty hand defense when your weapon is not available.

This is where most practice today, but let’s not forget our roots and how we got here. Our base weapons will help us remember. Keep practicing my friends!
