Spa City Stretch

Spa City Stretch Spa City Stretch is Hot Springs' go-to studio for assisted stretch therapy and massage — built for active adults who refuse to slow down.

Whether you're managing chronic tightness, recovering from training, or just want to move better day to day,

Here's a combination we'd recommend to anyone: get stretched, then go sit in the sauna. ✨

The stretching gets the range back. The heat afterwards is what makes you not want to leave.

And you don't need a gym membership for either one. Come in as a non-member and the locker room is yours — sauna, hot tub, steam room, all of it. Most people assume being inside a gym means joining the gym. It doesn't.

So the honest pitch is: an hour on the table, then as long as you like in the heat, and you walk out of the building a noticeably better-adjusted human being.

First time? That hour is fifty dollars.

Does your arm go numb in the night?

You know the one. You wake up, the hand's asleep, you shake it out for thirty seconds and it comes back. Happens often enough that you've stopped thinking about it.

Worth knowing: the nerves that feed your hand run from your neck, out under your collarbone, through your armpit and down the arm. That's a long trip through a lot of muscle. Anywhere along it, tight tissue can lean on the nerve just enough to make things go quiet — and lying still for hours is exactly when it gets the chance.

It isn't always that, and it's worth mentioning to a doctor if it's constant. But if it comes and goes with position, the path the nerve takes is worth looking at.

That's the path we work. 🙌

"Why am I face down? You're working on my shoulder."

Fair question, and we get it a lot. ✨

Here's the reasoning. When you're on your back, your shoulder blade is pinned between you and the table. It can't go anywhere. So anything we do to the arm, the shoulder blade has to absorb — which limits how much actual range we can find.

Face down, that shoulder blade is free. It can glide the way it's supposed to, and the arm can travel further because nothing underneath is blocking it.

Same shoulder, different starting position, noticeably more room to work with.

There's usually a reason for the position we put you in. Ask anytime — we like explaining it.

Put both arms straight up over your head. Now, without cheating, notice what your ribs did.

If they flared out and your lower back arched to let the arms finish, that's the tell. Your arms ran out of road somewhere around three-quarters of the way up, and your spine loaned them the rest.

The muscle usually responsible is the lat — the big sheet running from your upper arm all the way down the side of your back. When it's short, it puts a ceiling on your overhead reach, and your body finds a workaround instead of telling you.

Both arms at once, like this, is how we find out which side is doing more of the borrowing.

Fifty dollars gets you in the door. And the door opens onto more than you'd expect. 🙌

That's your first hour with us — half off the usual hundred — stretching or massage, your call. (We have a favorite. It's the stretching.)

Here's the part most people don't know: come in as a non-member and you still get the locker room. Sauna, hot tub, steam room. Get stretched out, then go sit in the heat a while. Nobody's rushing you anywhere.

We've got a few openings left this week. Once they're gone, they're gone till Monday.

Do you wake up with a headache that wasn't there when you went to bed?

Not a migraine. The other kind — the dull one sitting at the base of your skull and behind your eyes, there when the alarm goes off and mostly gone by lunch.

That one often isn't coming from your head at all. It's coming from the muscles at the top of your neck, which spend the night holding a position your pillow picked for you. They tighten, they pull on the base of the skull, and your morning starts with a headache you'll blame on sleep, or coffee, or getting older.

The good news is that's a muscle problem, and muscle problems respond to being worked on.

This is exactly that spot. 💆

Quick one you can do right there in your chair. 💆

Cross one ankle over the opposite knee, sit up tall, and lean forward a little. Then swap sides.

One side is going to feel different. It always does. That's your glute and the deep rotators underneath it — the muscles that quietly get short from sitting, driving, and generally doing life in a chair.

The version we do is the same idea with the leg taken further than you can take it yourself, because you're not bracing against your own stretch.

Try it at your desk. Then come let us do it properly.

Monday. Shoulders already somewhere up around your ears? 🙌

Here's the thing about that: your upper traps are postural muscles. They're not supposed to be working right now. But hand someone a stressful week and a laptop, and those muscles quietly take on a job nobody gave them — holding your shoulders up, all day, for free.

You don't notice because it happens slowly. You just end up with a neck that feels like a guitar string by Thursday.

This is seated neck and trap work. No table, no changing clothes, and we can get to it in the first ten minutes of a session.

The thing people say before a first session, almost every time: "I should warn you, I'm really not flexible."

Nobody who books this is flexible. That's the reason for booking. It would be strange to show up already having the range you're coming in to get.

It isn't a fitness test either. You don't perform anything, you don't hold anything, and there's no version of this where you're too stiff for it to work. Stiffer just means there's more sitting there to give back.

Come as you are, in whatever you're already wearing. Next week is open.

Saturday test, five seconds.

Reach one arm straight across your chest, like you're pointing at something over your opposite shoulder. Then use the other hand to draw it in closer.

Most people find one side goes further than the other, and the tight side is usually the arm they use most. That's the back of the shoulder — the muscles that spend all day slowing your arm down rather than moving it, and that quietly shorten from the work.

It's the range you use for a seatbelt, for reaching across the passenger seat, for washing the opposite shoulder. Small things, until one of them stops being easy.

Weekend spots are open.
