This staggering statistic is why Valley ISR instruction focuses so much on teaching kiddos how to self-rescue in case of a water-related emergency. ⁠ ⁠

In ISR instruction, the child is the center of the program. Although all of the other drowning prevention methods are vital, kiddos need to know what to do if, despite all of the other protections in place, they find themselves in the water.

That's why skills like floating and finding the edge are such an essential part of the learning!
