Great weather today for our long range steel match. Moderate quartering headwinds kept you on your toes. One relay at 500 yards only had two bullets touch steel. There were plenty of hits at 400 and 600 but there was something going on at 500 that we didn't see. I haven't seen the results but I'm sure Tom will be along with them.

After the match, Tom ran the money shoot shooting off a tank trap at 200 yards. Six shots to hit 4 pieces of steel the quickest. The steel sizes were 5", 4", 3" and 2". That 2" sure is small in those positions!

Congratulations to Hunter Langman for shooting his first ATA 25 straight in trap at yesturday's (7/29/26) ATA Big 50 Trap Shoot, while in the pouring rain, with a borrowed shotgun, and at his first registered ATA shoot! Great job Hunter!

At Sundays rimfire shoot the conditions were very calm and predictable. Usually at 300 yards with a 22LR you will see significant wind drift during the course of a 10-shot string. Sunday was the first time I was able to hold in one spot and run them off without adjusting, but that only happened twice for me out of the 5 strings shot. (Range pic attached).

I'm also attaching two pics from the previous rimfire shoot showing the switching right-to-left and left-to-right winds. When this was happening, I was getting about 16" of horizontal impact change at 300. That makes it extremely challenging, (if not impossible), to steer them all into a 4" plate!

Even if there were no winds at all to manage, finding a rifle and ammo combination capable of a perfect score at 300 takes a lot of time and a little bit of luck. On Sunday we had 4 perfect scores across 2 guns.

Here are the July Results from Hillbilly Rimfire. Firing 22 LR's at 200 and 300 yards is no easy task! If you did everything perfectly the best score possible is a 145. Today we had our first two shooters to score in triple digits. Congratulations to Dave Conklin for scoring 135! And to Joe Woosman who was close behind with a 129! We sure are having fun! You should come join us!

Congratulations to Hallstead Great Bend Rod and Gun Association member Tanner Tierney for his continued success in ATA Trap shooting. Tanner had another fantastic trap shoot at this weekend's (7/24-26/26) ATA New Hampshire State Trap Shoot at the Minute Man Sportsman's Club in Burlington, Massachusetts. Tanner placed in every event!
