No cash, no checks, no Venmo needed—just good music, good people, and a reason to tell stories long after the deer season ends. This is how we roll in Grove, Oklahoma. 🤘🎶🦌

A special thank you to the Arnold family for continuing to be one of our favorite families, season after season, even though y'all don't really need us... because you smoke deer. Literally. 😂

Thank you for hosting JimJam and for continuing the memory of Jim in a way that brings people together year after year. The friendship, the laughs, the music, and the hospitality are a big part of what makes this event special and why so many people look forward to it. That's not something just anyone can buy, build, make, or sell. That's simply who you all are. Year after year, no one packs a house quite like you all on Memorial Day weekend.

From all of us at Whiskey Bent Tracking, we want to say how honored we are that Marissa could have represented her own Rosentreter Recoveries shirt, but instead chose to wear a Whiskey Bent Tracking shirt while becoming we believe the FIRST female off-lead certified handler in Illinois. 👊

That kind of love from a distance does not go unnoticed by Whiskey Bent while Jon recovers from his escape from the hospital. ❤️

Congratulations to Rosentreter Recoveries for passing their UBT "Off Lead" (UBTOL) test last night! Marissa and young Delta have been training hard all spring for this test and it showed.
While having a dog on lead is the Illinois law, and how all of our handlers track with their dogs, taking the test is a real challenge for teams that are strictly "on lead". Rosentreter Recoveries and Jonathan Beachy are the only two teams in the IDTN to attempt and pass the UBTOL. Their dedication to their dogs and their craft is unmatched.
For those of you who dont know, Marissa is our head coordinator of the 3rd Annual IDTN Trackers Haven event. She spends countless hours every spring making sure this event goes flawlessly. We can't thank her enough for her contribution to the Illinois Deer Tracker’s Network and the 3rd Annual IDTN Trackers Haven. Be sure when you see Marissa this weekend to say Hi, Congratulations, and THANK YOU!

Meanwhile in Oklahoma: Tribes Win Again in Overtime.

The Oklahoma State Supreme Court has rejected Governor Kevin Stitt’s challenge to tribal hunting, fishing protections.

The decision keeps Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s legal opinion in place that shields tribal citizens from state prosecution for hunting and fishing on reservation land. The dispute is now directed to federal court, where a related case is already underway.

As the moon rises our entire pack wishes to thank you all for another fun memory filled season here on Grand Lake Oklahoma. It's time to rest and prepare for the off season work until October 2026. And I guess write, as I was gotten onto by a lot of hunters who evidently read my rambles and took notice of my change this season. 🤯

Cheers to everyone who had us along to recover their deer whether with the dogs, video chat, text or by phone. You've all made this a season to remember and reminder that our community is filled with some of the best hunters around Grove, Miami, Vinita to Jay and especially youins down in Eucha! We love you all BIG! 🫶

The common theme of tracking chats this season was the desire for the hunting community to have more grace for eachother. The apologies for personal best deer weigh heavily on the true hunters hearts of heart. Celebrate eachother. Encourage the youth. And for the love of backstrap gentlemen, quit playing like you ain't ever screwed up a shot. The toilets still get cleaned because 💩 happens.

Above all lessons and perspectives of this year, Jon and myself NEVER want to hear that someone in our Grand Lake area did not call us because they can't afford help, are trying feed their families and/or its JUST a doe. You may be given a price by others to help by land or air, however

THOSE PEOPLE DO NOT REFLECT US. We make our own decisions.

We do this to get meat to the tables and we love to watch our dogs work. Its a different outdoor experience if you've never seen it.

The next generation is already seeing benefits of those before them having called us after they've passed. I'm not gonna lie I got to pass on a father's past tracks, and scrape lines. 🥲 So if you don't want your kids to know your secrets tell us now. 😂

This seasons economy brought new hunters out to provide and A LOT of self taught. Honestly we hate that some assume we are "too famous" to come out for a doe. Weird to us to hear and the guys reading this know they broke my heart. But this isn't a business for us. We have jobs so we aren't as available. But God's given us a gift and a passion that we will continue to enjoy as long as physically possible. It's always meat or memories? Because we raised our kids on deer and how to hunt too we will remain donation only.

Last but not least, THE BEST compliment of the season award goes to the hunter that said, "Melissa your butt isn't as big this season" as we crossed the barbwire fence. 👊
