Had an absolute blast with these two this morning got a little rained on, but we ended up catching quite a few Oklahoma sharks. This little guy had an absolute blast ended up getting him a purple band and a gar. Thanks for coming out guys till next time.

Five invasive bighead carp were caught in the Elk River during a guided fishing trip this week.

These invasive fish are a serious threat to Oklahoma's fisheries. Bighead carp are filter feeders capable of consuming up to 40% of their body weight in plankton every day, putting them in direct competition with native species for food.

The fish were turned over to Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation for research by High Water Guide Service Guide Service, helping biologists better understand where these invasive carp are spreading.

If you catch a bighead, silver, grass, or black carp in Oklahoma waters, report it to ODWC's invasive carp biologist at 580-596-8025. Every report helps researchers track populations and guide future management efforts to protect our fisheries.
