Many people flock to Maine to see our majestic moose, so while out in Yellowstone it was really nice to see their beautiful bison! As like our Maine moose, they don’t look so pretty in the summer when they’re shedding that winter fur! Maine is home to the largest Canada lynx’s population in the contiguous United States. There are about 600 to 1200 that roam the dense boreal forest of western and northern Maine. They weigh between 17 and 30 pounds. Lynx’s are federally listed as a threatened species. We occasionally see them on the Allagash and it is a wonderful treat.

First trip in the books. Amazing six days on the St John River. We started with well below freezing weather to gradually warmer days. Great water level, people, moose sightings, food, and camaraderie. Here’s to 2026!

And just like that our first trip of the season is May 10, on the St John.

Join us on a true Maine adventure as we paddle Allagash lake from upper Allagash stream to Chamberlain Lake. This trip includes amazing rapids, Little Allagash Falls, exploring the ice caves, and hiking Allagash Mountain. This adventure is very unique and remote and a part of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway most people don’t paddle. Great adventure! Trip is July 6-10.In
