**What. A. Freaking. Weekend!** 🤌🏼🔥

We had athletes racing Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday… because apparently one day of chaos wasn’t enough. 😂

A number of our local athletes jumped into the hot and FAST Lakeside Double Sprint — testing their guts, their heat tolerance, and, perhaps most importantly, their ability to adapt to something new.

**Joe Smith** battled through a season of ups and downs to ultimately cross the finish line at **IRONMAN 70.3 Wisconsin.** That finish represented so much more than a race result.

**Sebastian** decided one race wasn’t quite enough and doubled down — Lakeside Double Sprint Relay on Friday, followed by the **Lake Summit 10-Miler** on Sunday. Because apparently recovery is just a suggestion. 😂

**Saturday was for the ladies!** 💪🏼

Laura, Mandy, JoEllen, Lori, and Alexis took on an incredibly challenging course at the **IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France.** 🇫🇷

And on Sunday, Coach T made his way around that same course — with one very important piece of race nutrition safely carried across the finish line:

🥐😂

The amount of **determination, heart, and grit** these athletes exemplify week in and week out — and day in and day out — is exactly why no single race can ever be the ultimate definition of success.

As competitive athletes, we *want* to feel in control. We want to execute. We want to push. We want to chase PRs and see all that work reflected in a finish time.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But sometimes, success looks different.

Sometimes success is having the courage to start.

Sometimes it’s getting to the start line when the season hasn’t gone the way you hoped.

Sometimes it’s adapting when things get hard.

Sometimes it’s simply refusing to quit.

**The finish line is important. But having the courage to keep showing up is what builds the athlete.**

And this weekend, our crew showed a whole lot of that. ❤️‍🔥

What a freaking weekend.
**Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it.** 🫶🏼

🚨 BIG NEWS AT MERGE! 🚨

We’re beyond excited to welcome Coach Julie Ramirez to the Merge Multisport coaching roster! 💙🏃‍♀️⛰️

Julie will be specializing in ultra-distance + trail running, bringing a lifetime of endurance experience, adventure, and a whole lot of mountain miles to the Merge squad.

And this is just a tiny sampling of her impressive résumé:
🏊‍♀️ Former D1 swimmer at Clemson University (Go Tigers!!! 🐅)
🏅 Ironman & multiple 70.3 finisher + World Championship qualifier
⭐ USAT All-American (2005–2008)
🇺🇸 USAT Best of the US Championship qualifier
🏊‍♀️ US Masters Swimming All-American
🏃‍♀️ UESCA Certified Ultrarunning Coach

But beyond the accolades, Julie brings a genuine passion for pushing boundaries, embracing new challenges, and proving that our best adventures can still be ahead of us. 🙌

After competing successfully in triathlon throughout her 30s, 40s, and early 50s, Julie transitioned into ultra trail running in pursuit of new challenges and adventures.

Her journey from the pool ➡️ roads ➡️ mountains reflects a lifelong commitment to endurance, continuous improvement, and exploring what’s possible.

As Julie puts it:
“The mountains, trails, and ultra-distance events have introduced a new dimension of endurance, demanding patience, resilience, and a deep respect for nature. While the sports have changed over the years, the motivation remains the same: to continue pushing boundaries, exploring limits, and proving that age is not a barrier to performance, adventure, or personal evolution.” ⛰️✨

While this positive mindset and energy not only is huge for motivating and inspiring others…it also makes Julie an absolutely fantastic coach!

When she’s not running the trails, Julie and her husband, Peter, along with their pup Rupert 🐶, spend as much time as possible exploring Western NC on foot and mountain bikes.

Please join us in giving Coach Julie a HUGE Merge welcome! 💙🎉

And if you’re ready to take your trail running or ultra-distance goals to the next level, we’d love to hear from you! 🏃‍♀️⛰️🔥

Coach Julie…Welcome To The Merge!

Full sending it right into a weekend of spicy racing!

While we all love the feeling of surviving brutally long and challenging races, there’s just something special about the opportunity get that battery acid taste in your mouth, feel your heat pumping out of your chest, feels your legs burning with the fire of a thousand suns, and smile through it all!

That’s exactly what this crew is up to this weekend and we wish them all not luck, but the ability to push their bodies to the absolute limit!

Go enjoy the gift that is sport, send it hard as hell, and give all the high fives you can!

Past due HUGE shoutout to JoEllen KP for taking the overall women’s win at the Hoot Lake Sprint Tri!
