The Grays family is saddened at the passing of two of their own, #2 Cash Rinker and #0 Cooper Nider.
Cash played with the Grays for six summers, from 13U to 18U. He was the backbone of the Grays 2025 team; a stalwart infielder, pitcher, and switch hitter. #2 was the longest-tenured player on the team. As a 14-year-old, Cash pitched and played the Grays to our first ever state championship in 2021. A fierce competitor, he was affectionately nicknamed “Sunshine” because of his golden flow. #2’s drive, sense of humor, and accountability made everyone around him better.
Cooper played with the Grays during the summer of 2025. he made an immediate impression after hitting multiple no-doubters during early games. He was a prolific defender; speed, instinct, and a cannon from the outfield. #0 outworked everyone and did it quietly; he was a shining example of hard work and humility. Coop was a quality young man with a million-dollar smile that brightened every dugout.
These young men’s character was evident to everyone they met – and a direct reflection of the families behind them. Cash and Coop left an indelible impression on our Grays family. Our hearts and payers go out to the Rinker, Nider, and Dirkson families, as well as everyone else whose lives were touched by these incredible young men. Our pain is temporary and we find joy in the fact we got to share a portion of these young men’s journeys. 30:5 &C
