Wilderness On Wheels Foundation is joining RiseUP Colorado for the 2026 RiseUP Elevation Challenge. For 40 years, Wilderness On Wheels has helped make the Colorado outdoors more accessible, including wheelchair accessible mountain and creekside boardwalks, fishing, camping, and other outdoor experiences designed to help more people enjoy the beauty of nature. Join this fundraising challenge and help us keep nature accessible!

From September 1st-30th, choose your challenge:
5,000 feet of elevation
OR
15 miles of distance

Walk, hike, run, climb, stroll, or roll your way through September. Participate individually or create a team with your friends, family, coworkers, or community.

And when you register, you can choose Wilderness On Wheels as the nonprofit you're supporting. **Half of the proceeds raised through your participant fundraising page will go directly to the nonprofit you select.**

Thank you Girl Scout Daisy Troop 41221 for spending a weekend at Wilderness On Wheels! They learned about the importance of adaptive recreation and inclusion. They also hiked to the top of the mountain and got their “made it to the top” ribbon! They had fun painting kindness rocks too. And they agree, nature is for everyone!💚 🏔️ ♿️

Come out and enjoy the last bit of summer at Wilderness On Wheels! We are open 7 days a week for day trips and we have overnight camping accommodations. Whether you walk or roll along our boardwalks, you’ll find peace and tranquility amongst the pine and aspen trees. Wilderness On Wheels is located off of highway 285, right before Kenosha Pass and half-way between Bailey and Fairplay.

🏕️ Tent sites, huts, and cabins available for overnight stays.
⛰️ Gazebos for a lunch break 🥪
🌲 Day trips are open 7 days a week, 8am - 8pm
♿️ Our facility is wheelchair accessible and we invite everyone to come enjoy our beautiful mountain retreat.

THANK YOU - to all of our volunteers, all of the guests that came to help us celebrate 40 years of equal access to nature, and to all of our sponsors. One of the most meaningful indicators of impact is the emotional response we see from our visitors. We had so many people stop us to thank us for putting on the event and expressing their gratitude for Wilderness On Wheels. That’s why we are here, for all of you. Because nature shouldn’t be a barrier to anyone.

At Wilderness On Wheels, we see firsthand the increased need for accessible outdoor experiences. Our organization has been operating for 40 years and we remain committed to expanding opportunities for individuals and families of all abilities to experience the healing and restorative power of nature, together.

See you this Saturday! We are looking forward to celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Wilderness On Wheels with everyone. We have some amazing activities planned, a ton of awesome gift baskets to win, and silent auction prizes! There is something for everyone including kiddos and dogs 🐶

Thank you to all of our event sponsors, including NeuAbility (come by to win the adaptive exercise session gift certificates they donated!), Gleam Car Wash (they donated goodie bags with gift certificates) Sēb's Recreation Center (they will have an info booth) United Access (they donated Denver Zoo tickets and accessible van rentals!) and yummy snacks from Bobo's
