I fished Lake Norman from 12:30am till 9:30am this morning and caught a total of 21 catfish. A 21lb flathead caught off chicken breast, 18 blue catfish ranging from 4-18lbs, and 2 channel catfish. Bait was plain chicken breast and cut white perch and most came off chicken. Anchored shallow at night then dragged deeper after sunrise. Water temps were around 86 degrees.

I haven't been fishing in few weeks, both of my jobs have been slammed but I'm out here now. Not expecting too much with spawn going on but hopefully atleast catch bunch of little ones. I got plain chicken breast and white perch out and still getting nailed by boat wakes even though its almost 1am.

We had lots of rain last night got flood warnings on phone and looked like a river flowing through yard. All that rain put Lake Rhodhiss and Hickory at target levels at 97 feet. Looks like they running Oxford dam about all day, be a good time to fish upper Norman today with all that current.

Catfishing Lake Norman on May 24th.

I fished Lake Norman from 1am till 11am and caught 20 catfish. Over half of them were channel catfish and the rest were blue catfish 6-13lbs and some with scarred up heads. Bait was cut white perch and plain chicken breast. I caught 5 off white perch the rest came off chicken breast. I also caught 14 white perch off alewives and a small hybrid off chicken breast. Depths were shallow anchors 4-15 feet at night and early am and then dragging 4-30 feet later on in day. Bigger blues definitely seem to be on the spawn now.
