Saftey First!!

Here are a few of many things we do to prioritize safety for our humans and equine partners:

⛑ Helmets
🧶 Lead ropes
👣 Horse leaders and sidewalkers for students
👢 Closed-toed and heeled shoes
❄ Winter blankets for the horses
🫧 Clean stalls, pastures, and water troughs each day

It costs approximately $1,600 per year to provide grain, hay, and supplements for just one of our equines!

And that doesn’t include any medications or additional care they may need, like muscle relaxers when they play a little too hard on the weekends.

Caring for our equines is a year-round commitment, and every bit of support helps us give them the care they deserve!

Keeping our Icelandic horses comfortable during the summer heat!

Icelandic horses are incredibly hardy, but they’re naturally adapted to Iceland’s cool climate. Hot and humid weather can make it more difficult for them to regulate their body temperature, so a little extra summer care goes a long way.

Here are a few ways we help keep them cool:
💧 Fresh, cool water
🌳 Access to shade
💨 Good airflow
🌅 Exercise during the cooler parts of the day
🚿 Cooling down after activity
👀 Monitoring closely for signs of heat stress
