It's difficult to wait, but more difficult to regret. I have been in the Fire Service for 30 years, seeing people at their worst. To handle the stress my wife and I took up turkey hunting, realizing it is the journey not the outcome is what really matters. Our relationship grew even stronger during this time. So we decided to share this with others. Our goal is to take those less fortunate with us to experience the journey

Another deer season has concluded, and I am pleased to report that Donna and I commenced the season by identifying two bucks we aimed to hunt. My target was a mature 6-point buck and a buckwith a distinctive, damaged antler; I was fortunate enough to harvest one. Meanwhile, Donna selected a 14-point buck and a secondary target of a 9-point buck, although the former remained elusive. Despite landowner issues preventing us from retrieving her 9 point buck, we still considered the season a success due to the quality time spent together and the focus on hunting specific animals. While we did not succeed with all the bucks we targeted, the time spent in the woods proved invaluable. A key takeaway from our experience is the importance of maintaining composure, as excitement should not cloud judgment. I extend congratulations to all successful hunters, and for those who were not, there is always next year.
