Meet Kasim — Master Scuba Diver Trainer & Aquarium Enthusiast
If there’s one thing Kasim loves almost as much as diving, it’s helping other people discover just how much fun being underwater can be.
As a Master Scuba Diver Instructor, Kasim’s teaching philosophy is simple: relax, master the basics, and enjoy the dive! He takes the time to make sure his students are comfortable and confident with their fundamental skills. After all, scuba diving is supposed to feel like an adventure—not an underwater final exam.
One of Kasim’s favorite places to teach is the National Aquarium. There’s something pretty special about introducing divers to an incredible underwater world while fish, rays, turtles, and other Aquarium residents cruise by to supervise the lesson. Talk about a classroom with a view!
Kasim also believes that entering the underwater world is a privilege. He encourages every diver he teaches to respect the environment and do their part to leave the ocean better than they found it. Good buoyancy, good diving habits, and respect for marine life make for happier divers—and happier fish.
When Kasim gets the chance to travel, some of his favorite dives include Blue Heron Bridge in Florida, the EPCOT reef at Disney World, drift diving in Cozumel, the wrecks off Key Largo, and diving throughout Italy.
And when he's actually on dry land? Kasim is usually tinkering with his 3D printer, trying to perfect the perfect cup of coffee, or working in the garden. Apparently, sitting still just isn't one of his specialties.
So, the next time you see Kasim at Atlantic Edge—or better yet, at the National Aquarium—join him for a dive! Just be warned: you may leave a more confident diver, with a greater appreciation for the ocean…and possibly a very strong opinion about how coffee should be brewed.
