Helping women over 50 discover what they want to accomplish or bring a long-held vision to life, creating a meaningful legacy through what they achieve and the example they set.

You used to love doing that. So why doesn't it sound fun anymore?

When your kids move out, you might discover that some of the things you used to enjoy just aren't as appealing anymore.

Here's something worth considering: Was it the activity you loved, or was it the people you shared it with?

Sometimes recognizing that difference can help you find new ways to enjoy familiar activities.

What's something you used to love doing that doesn't have quite the same appeal anymore?

The kids moved out. Now what am I supposed to do with myself?

When my girls moved out, I spent years keeping myself busy because I didn't know what else to do with all that empty time.

Eventually, I started rediscovering things I enjoyed, and I learned that you can begin enjoying life again before you know exactly what you want your next chapter to look like.

Sometimes it starts with trying something new and seeing where it takes you.

What's something you've discovered you enjoy now that you have more time for yourself?

You promised yourself you'd do it differently this time.

Then the familiar situation came up, and you found yourself doing exactly what you'd decided to stop doing. Again!

Old habits can be surprisingly automatic.

One way to begin changing them is to recognize the situations that trigger them and decide ahead of time how you'd like to respond.

For example, if you tend to agree to things before checking your schedule, try making "Let me check my calendar" your standard response.

That little pause gives you a chance to make a conscious decision.

What's one automatic response you'd like to change?

I stopped enjoying the things I loved after I finally had the freedom to enjoy them.

And that was something I never expected.

Even during some of the hardest years of my marriage, I still loved reading, crocheting, and baking. Especially baking around the holidays.

But after my divorce, when I finally had more time for myself, I gradually stopped doing many of those things.

And it stayed that way for years.

Eventually, I started baking again. I discovered hiking. And somewhere along the way, I began finding things I genuinely looked forward to.

Here's what I understand differently now.

When nothing sounds exciting, asking yourself what you're excited about can be a pretty difficult place to start.

Sometimes it's easier to ask yourself what you'd be willing to try.

You might revisit something you used to enjoy or explore something you've been curious about.

And while you're doing it, pay attention to how you feel.

That's how you begin discovering what you'd like more of.

I shared more about this experience, and a small way you can get started, in this week's video.

I wish I could tell you I don’t question myself anymore. I do.

This week gave that little voice plenty of am******on. 😂

Maybe this isn’t going to work.
Maybe I’m kidding myself.

I’ve learned that trusting myself doesn’t mean those thoughts never show up.

It means I don’t let them make the next decision for me.

So I let myself be disappointed.

And the next morning, I opened the analytics and started figuring out what I could learn and what I’ll do differently next time.

Self-doubt still gets a voice sometimes. It just doesn’t get the final say.

How to Finally Answer “What Do I Want?”

If you've spent years being the one who knows what needs to happen next, it can be surprisingly unfamiliar to make a choice based simply on what you want.

Tonight, we're going to start changing that.

You don't need to come with the answer. We're going to start figuring it out together.

Tonight at 6 PM CDT

There's still time to register.

I used to feel pretty confident about a decision until someone I cared about didn't like it.

Then the second-guessing would begin.

I'm much better now at listening to what someone has to say without immediately assuming their reaction means I need to change my mind.

Someone can disagree with my decision and I can still decide it's the right one for me. ❤️

One of the hardest things I'm learning is how to care deeply without carrying it all with me.

When someone I love is struggling, my first instinct is still to worry right along with them. Especially when it's one of my kids.

I'm learning I can love them, listen, and be there without taking every emotion they're feeling and carrying it around with me.

Still working on this one. ❤️

I used to think saying no required a really good explanation.

So I'd soften it, explain myself, and sometimes say yes simply because that felt easier than disappointing someone.

I've gotten much better at saying no.

Now I'm working on letting the no stand without presenting all the supporting evidence.

Anyone else still tempted to explain themselves after saying no?
