IT'S OFFICIAL — As of Friday, September 4th, Colorado's Right to Hunt & Fish has been certified for the November 3rd ballot as Amendment 83.
Coloradans have spoken. Over 180,000 signatures were submitted, and the Secretary of State confirmed the measure cleared every threshold required to amend the state constitution.
If you watched the commission meeting in La Junta, it was clear — Colorado needs a constitutional right to hunt and fish. The pressure on our outdoor heritage is real, and this amendment is about giving hunters and anglers long-term, constitutional certainty.
Colorado is home to more than 300,000 hunters and 950,000 anglers, driving $3.25 billion in annual economic impact and supporting 25,000 jobs statewide. With 40% of Colorado's 4 million registered voters connected to hunting or fishing, this is about protecting a way of life that runs deep across the state.
Amendment 83 doesn't change how CPW manages wildlife day to day — science-based management stays in place. What it does is protect hunting and fishing as the preferred method of wildlife management, on equal constitutional footing with other protected rights
