Date Night! š
But if Iām being real (and I know the internet is no place for honesty š), this date ALMOST did not happen. And it wasnāt for a lack of planningā we had one of our amazing sitters lined up, a reservation made, all the things. None of that was the problemā the truth is, the problem was me.
It was 5pm and I was sitting in my pjās on the couch. Yesterday was a longgggg day of parenting (can I get an amen?) and my brain was tired. I asked Jon to come over and sit for a minute and told him I just didnāt āfeelā like getting ready and going. He said that was absolutely okay, I could go to bed early, etc. But then I asked him if he wanted to go and he said āI think itās a good thing for us to prioritize.ā And that statement right there hit me square between the eyes.
Hereās the realityā parenting, work, life, you name it, will always affect our feelings and make us want to sit on the couch in our pajamas and do nothing. But I am so thankful for the tender nudging from my husband that reminded me to make time alone together a priority. Spending time with him is NEVER wastedāand I canāt believe I almost missed out on it because I didnāt āfeelā like getting ready. š¤Æ
I hope you can find some encouragement in this! Whether you never go on date nights with your spouse or you go 3 times a week, make it a priority. You wonāt regret it! š«¶š½
