Date Night! šŸŒ…

But if I’m being real (and I know the internet is no place for honesty 😜), this date ALMOST did not happen. And it wasn’t for a lack of planning— we had one of our amazing sitters lined up, a reservation made, all the things. None of that was the problem— the truth is, the problem was me.

It was 5pm and I was sitting in my pj’s on the couch. Yesterday was a longgggg day of parenting (can I get an amen?) and my brain was tired. I asked Jon to come over and sit for a minute and told him I just didn’t ā€œfeelā€ like getting ready and going. He said that was absolutely okay, I could go to bed early, etc. But then I asked him if he wanted to go and he said ā€œI think it’s a good thing for us to prioritize.ā€ And that statement right there hit me square between the eyes.

Here’s the reality— parenting, work, life, you name it, will always affect our feelings and make us want to sit on the couch in our pajamas and do nothing. But I am so thankful for the tender nudging from my husband that reminded me to make time alone together a priority. Spending time with him is NEVER wasted—and I can’t believe I almost missed out on it because I didn’t ā€œfeelā€ like getting ready. 🤯

I hope you can find some encouragement in this! Whether you never go on date nights with your spouse or you go 3 times a week, make it a priority. You won’t regret it! šŸ«¶šŸ½

Addie girl ran in her FIRST EVER middle school cross country meet yesterday and we couldn’t be prouder! šŸƒšŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸŽ‰

She grinded it out in this heat and even finished super strong. The jury is still out on whether she loves it or not—but regardless, we are SO proud of her for being brave and trying something new!

Sidenote and real talk—- I packed nothing for this cross country meet like such a noob. I will definitely be bringing a wagon (for King Micah 🤣) and a cooler with lots of cold drinks next time! But hey, you live and you learn!

Can’t wait for the next one. Let’s go, Addie girl!! šŸ„³šŸ¤

When did wellness start competing for the place only Jesus was meant to hold in our lives? šŸ™šŸ½ I know for many of us, it started at a very young age and is still something we battle every day.

It’s easy to become fixated on goals, appearance, strength, food, or consistency. But even good things become god things (aka idols) when they take the place only Jesus should fill.

Instead of asking, ā€œHow can I make my body better?ā€ we can ask, ā€œHow can I honor Jesus with the body He’s given me?ā€ That simple shift changes EVERYTHING.

We move in gratitude, nourish our bodies as gifts, rest in our worth in Christ, and pursue health without turning it into our identity.

God was never meant to be number one on our list of priorities but rather He is the paper that we write our list on. This means that as Jesus Followers, our hope is to steward every part of our lives for His glory— including our wellness journeys.

ā€œWhatever you do, do all to the glory of God.ā€ — 1 Corinthians 10:31

Our bodies are not trophies, but good gifts to use for His glory. Whether we are tempted to neglect or to idolize our bodies, the sweet spot of the abundant life is found in keeping Jesus at the center of it all. So, keep your eyes fixed on the Good Shepherd and do whatever it is He is telling you to do.

The Murphy Kids are back in school! šŸ“š By the looks of these photos, I think the only one with an over-the-top level of excitement is Micah lol!

Jon and I still don’t know how we have a middle schooler—-parenting is WILD! It really is going by so fast. Also, one of my favorite parts of today was Micah putting on his new blue tennis shoes this morning and showing us all how fast they made him run. šŸ„¹šŸ’Ø

And y’all know we had to celebrate the first day with some DQ. I always say our family isn’t a fancy bunch but we sure like to party haha!

I hope everyone is having a great first week back and settling into the rhythm of a new school year with ease! šŸ¤

Gratitude doesn’t just change your mood—it changes your brain. šŸ§ ā¤ļø

Neuroscience shows that regularly practicing gratitude strengthens neural pathways that help us naturally notice what is good. And as believers, we know this is by design. God has been telling us all along to intentionally shift what we focus on.

Romans 12:2 says, ā€œDo not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mindā€¦ā€

God created our minds with the incredible ability to change—and gratitude is one way we can practice renewing them.

And I think this has HUGE implications for the way we approach fitness and our bodies.

The world constantly trains our minds to notice what we DON’T like:

āŒ The body part we wish looked different.

āŒ The workout we missed.

āŒ The person we wish we looked like.

āŒ All the ways we think our bodies aren’t ā€œenough.ā€

But what if we trained our minds to notice the good GIFTS our bodies are instead? That positive shift could change everything.

Instead, we could pray things like:

āœ…Thank you, Lord, for legs that carry me.

āœ…Thank you, Lord, for lungs that breathe.

āœ…Thank you, Lord, for strength to serve the people I love.

āœ…Thank you, Lord, for a body that allows me to experience this life You have given me.

Suddenly, movement doesn’t have to come from a place of punishment, shame, or trying to earn a better body.

It can come from GRATITUDE. šŸ™ŒšŸ½

I don’t HAVE to move my body.

I GET to move my body.

Fitness becomes less about fixing something we hate and more about faithfully stewarding something God has given us.

That’s the kind of transformation I want—not simply a transformed body, but a renewed mind.

So today, before your workout, your walk, or whatever movement looks like for you, pause and thank God for your body.

Gratitude not only changes our perspective, it changes our motivation, AND it changes the way we steward what we’ve been given.

Murphy Beach Week 2026! šŸ«¶šŸ½

I say it every year but this is one of my favorite rhythms we have as a family. Each time we get to sneak away to the beach together, I treasure it and one thing is for certain— it always flies by!

This time, the memories that I will hold onto are:

ā˜€ļøLots of boogie boarding & bocce ball
ā˜€ļøGolf cart cruising
ā˜€ļøMovie nights
ā˜€ļøTrying new local ice-cream shops
ā˜€ļøRon Jon adventures
ā˜€ļøCrab hunts
ā˜€ļøPost beach slurpee runs
ā˜€ļøOne epic date night

Also, the kids introduced me to the song ā€˜I am Barabbas’ by Josiah Queen on this trip. 😭 It was the most requested track on the golf cart and it is soooo good. And yes, if you are wondering, Jon did wear his socks on the beach part of the time. BAHAHAHAHA he even got Joy to join him once and was so proud. ā˜ ļø

Until next time! šŸŒŠšŸļø

Have you ever noticed how quickly your thoughts about yourself can change?

One day you feel confident, then the next day you don’t.

Our circumstances change.
Our feelings change.
Our bodies change.
But God NEVER does.

Because God is unchanging, His love for you doesn’t fluctuate with your eating habits. His delight in you isn’t determined by whether you made it to the gym. Your identity isn’t tied to the number on the scale or the size of your clothes.

The world says your worth rises and falls with your appearance and performance—God says your worth was settled at the cross.

When you know that God never changes, you can stop chasing security in food, exercise, or your body. Instead, you can pursue those things from a place of freedom—NOT fear. You can nourish your body because it’s a good gift from God, not your enemy. You can move your body as an act of worship and stewardship. You can look in the mirror knowing that your identity was never found there in the first place.

Anchor yourself in the One who never changes, and you’ll stop being tossed around by everything else that does.

These kinds of texts are why I love what I get to do! ā¤ļø

When we first started working together this summer, my client couldn’t pull her foot into a standing quad stretch. Last week, she did it for the very first time in MONTHS!

She is stronger.
She is more mobile.
She has better balance.
She can do something today that she couldn’t do a few months ago.

She even got emotional because she realized just how far she has come. Those are the victories that matter.

As a virtual trainer, this is the goal—helping others deepen in their knowledge of the truth that God made their bodies GOOD and helping them experience what their bodies are capable of. Watching confidence grow through consistency is one of the greatest gifts of this job.

Progress doesn’ always have to measured by aesthetics. Sometimes it’s measured in the moment you look at your body and say, ā€œLook what I can do!ā€

To my client/sweet friend: I’m so happy for you!!! šŸ’ŖšŸ½Keep showing up. Keep trusting the process. This is only the beginning. šŸ™ŒšŸ½

If you’ve been thinking about investing in your health but aren’t sure where to start, I’d love to help. No matter where you live, we can work together virtually to build strength, confidence, and a healthier lifestyle—one next right step at a time.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made! šŸ¤

What if the thing you’ve been chasing in fitness isn’t actually what you need?

The world tells us we need the perfect workout plan, the perfect diet, more discipline, more willpower, or a different body.

But God’s Word tells us something different.

He promises to provide everything we need to walk in obedience to Him.

Need strength? He provides it.
Need wisdom to make healthy choices? He provides it.
Need self-control? That’s the fruit of His Spirit.
Need endurance to keep going? He provides that too.
Need grace after a hard day? His mercies are new every morning.

Our job isn’t to strive in our own strength—it’s to depend on His.

When we stop looking to fitness to fix our problems and start looking to Jesus instead, EVERYTHING changes. Exercise becomes stewardship instead of punishment. Nourishment becomes an act of worship instead something we do out of fear. Health becomes about honoring God with the body He has entrusted to us—not chasing the approval of the world.

ā€œHis divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godlinessā€¦ā€ — 2 Peter 1:3

Whatever you’re facing today, trust that God has already provided what you need to take your next right step.

One prayer, one nourishing meal, one workout, one next day right step at a time.

He will supply the rest.

The messages around us say we have to earn our worth by changing our bodies. The Gospel says our worth was settled at the cross.

Your workout was never meant to be punishment. It was meant to be an opportunity to steward the body God created in His image.

Let gratitude, not self-hatred, be your motivation today.

For you created my inmost being; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. — Psalm 139:13–14

YOU are fearfully and wonderfully made! Celebrate that truth today!!! šŸ¤
