We are often too hard on ourselves, seeking perfection to the extent that we conceal our progress, even from ourselves. It's important to remember that failure can teach us more than success, as long as we get back up and try again. Consistency will always lead to growth.
Keep fighting.

I needed a break.
4 months in fact.
Social media was killing my creativity and drive. So much of it, all though well produced, I find to be vapid and shallow. Posts seem to be either be minimal in clothing or someone doing push-ups with a couch on their back. Quantity certainly rules over quality these days. Vanity and aesthetics rule over performance. People (not just in fitness) want the outcome without the work. People want praise without earning it. The edits in post and use of good angles may fool the public but not those who know the game.
Much of my fitness lives inside a protected bubble. I am very lucky to work alongside and collaborate with very smart and creative coaches. The standard is high amongst my collogues so I tend to be disappointed when I poke my head outside of the window.
But I am not those influencers. I am a coach.
I see what we do daily. My athletes. My mothers and fathers. My students. My small business owners. My doctors and lawyers. My baristas and tattoo artists.
We work hard and we do it quietly with pride. We don’t need to broadcast for likes because we never started for you. We do it for ourselves.
Just a reminder:
Philosophy without function is just whimsical.
Function without creative intent is clunky.
I want to meld the two together.
Function with metaphor.
Action with intent.

Action>talk
Instead of clouding the moment with excessive talk, we can learn the most from our actions. Understanding is not merely achieved through words, but through firsthand experience. While it's important to listen well as it can be a useful guide, true wisdom comes from taking action – that is where the real lessons are taught.

Effective training often involves monotony, repetition, and a lack of excitement. It requires consistent effort, gradually increasing intensity and weight over time. If you find yourself needing constant excitement in each workout to stay engaged, it may be worth reevaluating your priorities.

A coach's ultimate reward lies not only in guiding individuals to recognize their potential, but also in empowering them to actualize it. The attainment of what was once deemed unattainable instills an immense and unshakable sense of confidence.

Hard work is humbling.
Change is hard.
Being new is embarrassing.
But the adaptations that will occur are so worth it.
Do something hard and own it. All of it.
The difficult.
The embarrassing.
The humbling.
I promise you will be better for it.

Simple training is effective.
How easy is it to find flashy, cool, unique movements on the internet? Unfortunately these are mostly effective for hits and likes.
If you want the body to change speak simply to it. If the message isn’t being received then start to use nuance. Social media “Experts” love to broadly apply the things that should only be performed by the unique individual with unique needs. All the waxing poetic verbiage and industry jargon can’t make it anymore effective.
Keep it simple. Be consistent. Put effort in. Pay attention. Give a s**t.

Many would think that what you demand of your body it will perform. This isn’t fully true. You have to teach your body what you need from it through training. You have to learn how to tell it what you need. You have to speak in a language it knows.
As a beginner, your focus should be moving well. How we do things is the first level of communication with ourselves. We learn control. Soon, we will find our limits. This can be in strength, speed, endurance or range and is where your body begins to communicate back. Learn to listen. When to push and when to give. In time, we can ask more accurately and appropriately. We would have learned how to listen for when we have overreached or underperformed. Then our limits will begin to expand beyond into new areas.
For some, too much of the gym is what weight is being lifted. Instead think more about what you are saying to your body. Can it understand? If so, then growth will follow.

Your truest potential is locked behind your effort and your presence.
Push back when it starts to hurt. Be in that moment.

While the responsibility is yours the effort is optional. You get what you give.
