It’s no exaggeration to say that Greg () is the reason that ISA Barbell even exists.
He, along with Beki (we’ll get to her tomorrow), were the first athletes Coach EZ () coached through meets. He encourages all athletes to try a barbell cycle and when someone expresses a desire to compete, he is their number one fan ( has on occasion called him a weightlifting fanboy, which is a term of endearment, allegedly).
Greg’s enthusiasm for this sport is infectious. Above his appreciation for the sport, Greg is a student of it.
With each goal he achieves, there’s another, slightly larger one waiting for him. He is as diligent in his training as he is driven.
We know what his goal is today, we know he’s capable of achieving it, and we are going to be cheering him on with each lift. Onward in your quest to be slightly less mediocre than the last time (if you’ve ever seen Megan and Greg interact, you probably would still not entirely get it, but this would make slightly more sense).

A little over 4 weeks ago, Sarah () or “SIzz” as she’s known - stepped out onto the platform at the Wolverine Showdown with a singular goal: qualify to lift in the AO Series 1 at the Arnold Classic.

Today she sees that goal realized. All of the training, the accessory work, the ungodly amount of tempo front squats, all for this moment. Your community is rooting for you and wishing you luck 🍀 we know you’re going to crush it 💪🏼

“Once more unto the breach.” - Henry V

Whenever coach Greg () is testing his lifts, he scrawls that saying onto a white board where it stays for the duration of the session. It was a phrase spoken by Henry V during the Hundred Years War to rally his troops to attack, or breach, an enemy’s wall.
This week, 3 of our athletes are headed into battle at the Arnold Classic in Columbus to put their hard work, dedication and commitment to the test.
Beki () is lifting in the Nike 2022 National University Championship meet as a 71KG lifter. She will be lifting on Saturday, March 5th.
Coach Greg and Coach Sizz () are both lifting in the North American Open Series 1. Sarah (Sizz) will be our first athlete of the week, she takes the platform on Thursday, March 3rd, while Greg lifts on Friday the 4th.
We will update once we have the final schedule, but please join in wishing these three luck as they head once more unto the breach and leave it all on the platform.
Special thanks to Coach EZ () for making the trip from South Dakota to Ohio to coach these athletes, for his programming, and for spending countless hours reviewing all of our lifting videos. Greg has an abundance of Scandinavian Swimmers and some beer as a thank you.

Friday Night Lights, chapter 22.1 is in the books!

On a long enough timeline, we all move on. If we are lucky, the impact of our time and effort is felt even in our absence.
Today marks the end of an era in our small community.
and were some of the first members of our community at 1150 Hilton. They’re the kind of people you always knew would move on, but you just assumed that time was somewhere off in the distant future. David is a chief in the Coast Guard and has been stationed in Arkansas for the past year and change while Jackie works as a CRNA in Toledo.
For the first time in a very long time, they will be living in the same state. Gone will be the 2 hour commute to work and the 13 hour commute to one another.
While we are so excited for you both to put down your roots in Arkansas, your presence and impact will stick with our community in Michigan.
We love you, we will miss you, but this is not a goodbye, just a see ya later ❤️ thank you for being our friends, our pseudo family, and for some of us, our sensei ❤️

This is the first of what I believe will be many attempts at our photo shoot. Our staff and athletes thoroughly enjoy (are obsessed with) the brand for both workout and leisure, and these photos depict from head (Uplifting Scrunchie) to toe (Runfit Power Stride socks) how many of us like to dress on a semi regular basis.
We couldn’t seem to get it together in the photos and you wouldn’t know these were the very best out of about 35 that was patient enough to orchestrate!

Thank you so very much to everyone who came out Friday night to our charity event, to everyone who contributed even though you were unable to attend, to all of the businesses who donated gift cards and baskets towards our cause, to all the athletes who participated in the workout, to everyone who stayed behind to clean up, to the bakers who made the baked goodies, and everyone who supported in any way possible!

Sometimes life has strange ways of telling you to slow down. When it comes unexpectedly, it’s difficult not to feel defeated. Your introspective strength has to overcome the obstacles that have potential to paralyze you from mentally progressing.
Life sent that message to .mv while she was in the midst of prepping for a 1/2 Ultra. She was told after a hairline fracture that the main means of her training had to cease for 6 weeks- running. Nevertheless, she has stayed focused on her goals, hasn’t said no to any of the crazy set ups we’ve created for her modifications, and she’s now walking pain free and going for her first run this week!
Cheers to you, Tanya, for taking life’s obstacle, and making it a prop for your boot!

This is Avaney, modeling her new favorite hoodie. She’s what some would consider a “girlie girl”- loves her high heels and knows nothing about gym shoes. (And I mean NOTHING 🙄)
She was terrified of CrossFit and came in for partner WOD Saturday where took her in. ☺️
She still complains, but less. She still hurts, but she’s stronger. She still hates running, but yesterday she ran a full mile in 10:42. That’s huge. It took her over 14 minutes in June.
And she. LOVES. Her hoodie!!!

Beginning October 4, InnerStallion Athletics will be partnering with The Phoenix by hosting “Sober Strength” on Mondays at 1:00pm.
The Phoenix is a nonprofit organization that was created to help those who suffer from substance abuse recover, by offering group activities in a safe and supportive environment.
Their mission statement:
“To build a sober active community that fuels resilience and harnesses the transformational power of connection so that together, we rise, recover and live.”

🌟Monday Motivation🌟
Jackie () is a Ferndale OG, she has been with us since we opened our doors back in 2017, along with her husband David, who is a chief in the U.S. Coast Guard 🇺🇸
Jackie is a successful CRNA. She works 8, 12, 16, and 24 hour shifts throughout the month. David is currently stationed in Arkansas, so when she isn’t working, she’s often times traveling.
Even with her intense schedule, Jackie still prioritizes movement. Some days, she’s able to RX a workout, lift heavy, and maybe even complete two workouts. Other days, she meets her body where it is and just moves. She listens to her body and her coaches, focusing on long term health and movement over “winning a workout.”
We should all learn from Jackie and her disciplined approach to health and wellness.
