In just the past two weeks, October 5–19, 2026, publicly reported incidents at churches across the United States have included:

These incidents are a reminder that threats can happen anywhere, including places where families gather to worship.
**If your church doesn't have a security or safety team, it may be time to start that conversation.**
Church security isn't about creating fear or turning a place of worship into a fortress. It's about being prepared to protect your congregation, your pastor, your volunteers, and the families who walk through your doors.
✅ Establish a trained church safety team.
✅ Develop emergency response and evacuation plans.
✅ Train volunteers to recognize concerning behavior.
✅ Coordinate with local law enforcement.
✅ Prepare for medical emergencies and violent threats.
