Think about your biggest goal for a moment.

Now be honest—what’s the reason you say you can’t reach it?

👉 “Things just won’t go right.”
👉 “I’m too tired.”
👉 “I don’t know where to start.”
👉 “I get distracted by my phone… or comparing my life to others.”

Here’s the truth: those aren’t reasons—they’re excuses our brain uses to stay comfortable.

So how do you get past them?

1️⃣ Shrink the goal.
You don’t need the perfect plan—just the next right step. Small wins build momentum.

2️⃣ Schedule discipline, not motivation.
You won’t always feel ready. Show up anyway. Action creates motivation, not the other way around.

3️⃣ Control your environment.
Put the phone away. Set boundaries. Remove distractions instead of relying on willpower.

4️⃣ Get accountability.
Someone who knows your goal and expects you to act changes everything—coach, friend, or community.

5️⃣ Remember your “why.”
When the reason is big enough, excuses get quieter.

Your goal isn’t unreachable.
It’s just on the other side of the excuses you’ve been rehearsing.

Kelly Starratt says that an effective warm-up should do exactly what it sounds like — warm you up. Aim for dynamic movements that get your body hot, sweaty, and primed for the work ahead. Think big ranges of motion, increased heart rate, and muscles waking up.
