What are you holding onto that might be asking to be released?

Aparigraha is one of the five Yamas within the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Often translated as non-attachment, non-grasping, or non-possessiveness, it asks us to examine our relationship with what we hold onto.

And that goes far beyond our possessions.

We can cling to expectations, outcomes, relationships, old identities, accomplishments, and ideas about how life is supposed to unfold. Aparigraha doesn't ask us to stop caring. Instead, it invites us to notice when caring becomes clinging and consider what might become possible if we loosen our grip.

In our newest blog, we explore this traditional yogic teaching and how we can practice Aparigraha both on the mat and in everyday life.

🌿 Let’s normalize making your yoga practice your own.

Using props, choosing a modification, taking an extra moment of rest, losing your balance, asking questions, or walking into class as a complete beginner are all part of the practice.

Yoga isn’t about keeping up with the person next to you. It’s an opportunity to build awareness, listen to your body, and discover what supports you each time you step onto your mat.

At Eugene Yoga, we’re grateful to offer a space where students of different backgrounds, experience levels, and abilities can explore their practice in a way that feels supportive and sustainable.

What would you add to our “normalize this at yoga” list? Tell us below. 👇

Pregnancy changes your body, your energy, your routines, and often the way movement feels. Prenatal yoga gives you space to meet those changes with movement, mindfulness, breath, and the support of other expecting parents. 🤍

This September, our Prenatal Yoga Series returns with Jennifer Jamieson, who has been teaching prenatal yoga for 17 years and brings both professional experience and her own experience practicing yoga throughout pregnancy.

Choose the series that works best for your schedule:

🌿 Tuesdays beginning September 1
5:30 to 6:45 PM
5th St. Market Studio

🌿 Saturdays beginning September 12
12:00 to 1:15 PM
South Studio

No previous yoga experience is necessary. Each series offers pregnancy-accessible practices designed to support your body, mind, and heart while creating space to connect with other expecting parents.

What comes after your 200-hour yoga teacher training? 🪷

For many teachers, finishing 200 hours doesn’t feel like the end. It reveals just how much more there is to explore. Anatomy, philosophy, sequencing, meditation, pranayama, teaching methodology, and the art of guiding different students can continue unfolding over a lifetime of practice.

Eugene Yoga’s upcoming 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training is an opportunity to continue that journey, and you can learn all about it during our FREE online information session.

💻 300-Hr Teacher Training Information Session
📅 Tuesday, August 18 at 6:30 PM
📍 Online via Zoom
✨ Free to attend

Andrea Stafl will walk through the program, share what you can expect, and answer your questions. Anyone interested in learning more can attend the information session online. The 300-hour training begins September 27 and requires a 200-hour yoga certification.

Not sure if another 300 hours are right for you? Read our newest blog to learn why advanced yoga education can be such a meaningful next step, then reserve your spot for the free information session:
