We are running 2x 6 week beginners courses for the Lafayette Bob L Burger Rec Center. They will be held at the dojo Mon/Wed 5 -6 pm.

Family classes 7 yrs + geared towards new students. Students can continue and register again for following sessions up to certain levels, or transfer to the dojo after the course is over.

Heather and I will be in Florida for Winterfest March 25 - 27. Our Kobudo day is Sunday March 27th, but we will get a little time at the end of the session on Friday and Saturday if people wanted to train as well.

Bo hojo undo basics and Shushi no Kun and Sai hojo undo and basics with Nicho Sai.

Heather and I will also review some other weapons on Sunday if people can bring them including Nunit bo and Kuwa. After training there the last few years, I know many have done kobudo and might have these on hand with them and I don't mind going through those forms with you.

Black belt testing Saturday December 11, 2021. Smooth and quick, with everyone passing to second degree black belt! 7 testing candidates, 6 test board members headed by Shihan Allen Bennett, 8th dan Kyoshi. Congratulations to everyone! Big thank you to the parents, friends, family, and students that came to watch and support them. Big thank you to the testing board members for giving their time.

Beach workout 2021 at Van Buren State Park in Michigan with Master James Thompson. It had been such a long time since we've seen everyone. Great food from Marcus Thompson, and great training with everyone.

Great video series about Uechi Ryu and Matayoshi Kobudo with Tsuneo Shimabukuro from Yusuke in Okinawa.

In Colorado both systems are scarce - many practitioners of Japanese karate systems are starting to find Uechi Ryu while broadening their training.

Bennetts Karate Summer Camps 2021

July 5 - 9, 2021
August 9 - 13, 2021

Bennetts Karate summer camps will be from 10 - 1 pm each day. Camp will consist of karate training with sparring, board breaking, water balloon fights, outdoor training as well as arts and crafts throughout the week!

Price reduction if you register before May 31st!

Members price (already a student) $210.00, second enrolled is $180.00
Non-membership price (new students to the dojo) $240.00, second enrolled is $210.00

“Okinawa no Bushi” video collection from the OKIC website. Many older videos of demonstrations from the 1990s.
