🏒🇺🇸 BEYOND THE GAMES | WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Once representing her country on the ice. Now inspiring the next generation from behind the bench.

For Annie Katonka, hockey has always been about more than the final score.

In 2023, Annie proudly represented Team USA in women's ice hockey at the FISU World University Games in Lake Placid, New York, adding another milestone to an impressive collegiate career that included an NCAA National Championship, three First Team All-American honors, and four NCAA Frozen Four appearances.

Today, the Pittsburgh native is entering her third season with Pittsburgh Steel City Selects Hockey, serving as Head Coach of the 19U team.

Her passion for growing women's hockey continues through coaching, mentorship, and creating opportunities for young athletes to thrive both on and off the ice.

Annie's journey is a reminder that representing your country is more than a moment in time. It's an experience that can inspire a lifetime of impact.

🏒 Her story continues beyond the games! Visit www.uni-usa.org to read Annie's full feature and discover how former Team USA student-athletes are making an impact after competition.

🇺🇸🏒 **BEYOND THE GAMES | Samuel Ruffin

The Games may end, but the journey continues!

In 2023, Samuel “Sam” Ruffin proudly represented Team USA at the FISU World University Games in Lake Placid, helping the U.S. men's ice hockey team make history by bringing home a silver medal. 🥈

A former Adrian College standout, Ruffin has taken his hockey career overseas, where he now plays professionally for the Coventry Blaze in England's Elite Ice Hockey League.

We're excited to introduce **Beyond the Games**, a new UniUSA series celebrating former World University Games athletes and the paths they've taken since representing their country.

From professional sports to careers in business, education, coaching, and beyond, every athlete has a story worth sharing.
