TRUE STORY SATURDAY 💜

This week was one of those weeks where I felt pulled in a hundred different directions.
Running TWO Jazzercise centers, working full time as the Executive Director at WCPA, trying to take care of staff, customers, family, animals, responsibilities… and somewhere in the middle of all of that, forgetting that it’s actually okay to take care of ME too.

I think so many women, especially in this stage of life, struggle with that guilt. We feel like resting is lazy. We feel like taking time for ourselves is selfish. We feel like if we aren’t constantly giving to everyone else, we’re somehow failing.

But this morning reminded me why I NEED this.

I taught Vital Sculpt today and walked out of there feeling STRONG. Not skinny. Not smaller. STRONG.

And let me tell you… I am SORE tonight. 😂
The good kind of sore. The kind that reminds you your body is capable of incredible things.

Push ups. Planks. Lunges. Squats. Arms shaking. Heart pounding. Heavy weights. High cardio. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, I realized something:

At this point in my life, my goal is not to be tiny.
My goal is to be healthy.
To be capable.
To build muscle.
To protect my bones.
To have energy for this crazy busy life I love.
To feel confident and strong walking into every room.

I’m currently sitting at 158 lbs and honestly? I’m not obsessing over the scale anymore. I’m focusing on feeding my body, moving my body, lifting weights, and building muscle before my birthday.

Because as menopausal women, strength training changes EVERYTHING.

Muscle supports our metabolism.
It protects our bones as estrogen declines.
It helps with energy, balance, posture, confidence, and long term health.
And mentally? It is one of the best stress relievers I’ve ever found.

That’s why Jazzercise matters so much to me.

It’s not just about calories or weight loss. It’s about walking into a room stressed out, overwhelmed, exhausted… and walking out feeling stronger physically AND mentally.

Some days the workout changes your body.
Some days it changes your mindset.
And honestly… sometimes it saves a little piece of you.

So if you’ve been waiting to “get in shape” before starting, don’t.
Start exactly where you are. Use the weights you can use. Modify when you need to. Show up for YOU.

Strong is the goal now. 💜

She decided to dance anyway.

That’s your reminder today.

You do not have to wait until life gets easier.
Until work slows down.
Until the kids are grown.
Until your stress is gone.
Until you lose the weight.
Until you “feel motivated.”

You can choose joy NOW.
You can choose movement NOW.
You can choose yourself NOW.

Because the women who thrive aren’t the ones with perfect lives… they’re the ones who learn how to keep showing up even in the middle of the chaos.

Move your body.
Laugh louder.
Dance in the rain.
Take the class.
Live the life. 💜

Sometimes healing doesn’t look like sitting still.
Sometimes it looks like dancing through the storm anyway. ✨

MEAL PLANNING DOESN’T HAVE TO MEAN PERFECT EATING. 💜

One of the biggest mistakes women make when trying to “get healthy” is thinking they have to change EVERYTHING overnight.

No bread.
No snacks.
No carbs.
Meal prep 27 containers.
Never eat dessert again. 😅

And then what happens?
You get overwhelmed, frustrated, and quit before your new habits even have a chance to stick.

Here’s the truth: healthy eating starts with SMALL changes done consistently.

You don’t have to overhaul your entire life in one week. Start with simple swaps:

✨ Greek yogurt instead of sour cream
✨ Protein oatmeal instead of sugary cereal
✨ Sweet potatoes instead of fries
✨ Cottage cheese or fruit instead of processed snacks
✨ Grilled chicken instead of fast food
✨ Sparkling water instead of soda

Little changes add up BIG over time.

And if you’re working out regularly, especially strength training, PROTEIN matters SO much.

Protein helps:
💪 Build and maintain muscle
💪 Support recovery after workouts
💪 Keep you fuller longer
💪 Support metabolism and energy
💪 Protect muscle as we age

Especially for women in midlife and menopause, building muscle is one of the BEST things we can do for our bodies. We’re not just chasing weight loss anymore… we’re working toward strength, energy, mobility, and long term health.

You do not have to eat perfectly.
You do not have to give up every food you love.
You just have to start making better choices more often than not.

If you’re skipping stretching because you think it “doesn’t count” as exercise… this is your reminder that stretching may actually be one of the MOST important things you can do for your body as you age.

Especially for women.

As we get older, we naturally lose flexibility, mobility, and muscle elasticity. That stiffness you feel getting out of bed? Tight hips? Achy back? Sore shoulders? Trouble squatting down or reaching overhead?

That’s your body asking for movement.

Stretching helps:
✨ Improve flexibility and mobility
✨ Reduce muscle tension and soreness
✨ Improve posture and balance
✨ Support joint health
✨ Reduce risk of injury
✨ Increase circulation
✨ Help with stress and recovery

And honestly? Most of us carry SO much stress in our bodies without even realizing it.
