Welcome New Cadets!

In past couple of months, three new Cadets have started in the EPPD: Emma Syzmanski, Hunter Kvasnicka and Annie Dokken. They join three other Cadets already in Eden Prairie’s program. Cadets assist officers by responding to a variety of community needs including animal control, enforcement of parking violations and other ordinances, performing fingerprinting services, providing traffic direction and assisting officers with other service-related duties.

Cadet Szymanski graduated from Franklin High School in Wisconsin and is attending the University of St. Thomas to pursue a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology. Prior to starting with Eden Prairie as a Cadet, she worked in their Investigations Division as a Crime Analyst Intern.

Cadet Kvasnicka graduated from Jordan High School and is currently attending Ridgewater College to purse an associate’s degree in law enforcement. Cadet Kvasnicka splits his time between the EPPD and working at the Scott County jail. Prior to starting with Scott County, he was a military police officer in the Marine Corps.

Cadet Dokken graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School and is currently attending Metro State University to obtain her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

During their program, Cadets receive learning opportunities and inter-departmental mentorship with the goal of being promoted to a police officer position at the conclusion of their Cadet assignment.

As part of the program, the city pays the Cadet’s tuition for a two-year degree in law enforcement or the last two years of a four-year degree in law enforcement. The duration of the assignment is 2-4 years, depending on the length of the education sought by the Cadet.

Welcome to our three new Cadets!
