Eleven years isn’t built in a day. It’s built one round, one friendship, one family, and one person who decided to walk through the door at a time.

This Saturday, we’re celebrating 11 years of TECT Center the best way we know how: together on the mats.

Some of you have been here for years. Some found us somewhere along the way. Some may be walking through our doors for the very first time Saturday.

It’s hard to look at where we started without feeling something about how far we’ve come.

Eleven years ago, TECT Center looked a whole lot different. Different walls, different mats, a lot less space, and no way of knowing just how many lives would eventually cross those mats.
Somewhere along the way, I think TECT became part of a lot of people’s stories.

Maybe you were here in the green-wall days.... Maybe you came years later. Maybe you stayed, moved away, changed gyms, or raised kids on these mats, competed beside us, coached, supported from the sidelines, or simply shared a few rounds with us.

However TECT Center became part of your story, we want you back on the mats with us this Saturday.

The goal isn’t to remove struggle from a child’s experience. It’s to make sure they feel safe enough to struggle.

One of the greatest things we can give a young athlete is permission to be a beginner, ( read that again) ...to make mistakes, accept correction, lose, learn, and come back ready to try again.

Confidence isn’t built by convincing kids they’re always doing great. It grows when they discover that mistakes don’t change how we see them.

We can require commitment without requiring results.

Show up. Listen. Give effort. Be respectful. Keep going when it gets hard.

Let the coaches teach the technique. Let the kids experience the process.

Because the mats should challenge a child’s confidence, not make them question whether they still have yours.
