Today’s Key Staff Meeting was a time to learn and reconnect with the mission that brings us together!

Thank you to for your partnership with the YMCA and all you do to help move our mission forward.

We also appreciate Ron Wineguard and Emma Forrester for speaking with our staff about reducing substance abuse and improving public health outcomes in Easley.

Our CEO, Sid Collins, shared a message about maintaining high standards, and pursuing excellence in how we serve our members, our community, and one another.

We celebrated staff birthdays and recognized these YMCA anniversaries:
• Amy Stuff — 3 years at the Powdersville YMCA
• Autumn Roberts — 3 years serving in the Mentor Program
• Emily Harrison — 3 years in our Childcare Department
• Katie Murphy — 3 years in our Wellness Department
• Alex Rutland, Development Director — 5 years
• Ryan Lemere, Director of Operations — 15 years
• Carrie Raines, Human Resources Director — 25 years

We also recognized several staff members for their outstanding performance over the past few months. Thank you for the heart you bring to your work every day!

This week we celebrated the beginning of Year 12 of the Y Mentor - School District of Pickens County partnership, with two Welcome Breakfast events! We enjoyed having representatives from our partner schools, many returning mentors and several brand new mentors come together to celebrate and encourage each other!

We are truly blessed to be able to work alongside these amazing volunteer mentors and school partners to serve the students in Pickens County!

It’s never too late to learn how to swim.

For one of our members, learning to swim has been a lifelong dream. Steve Hilts, one of our instructors, has been working with her one-on-one, helping her build confidence and learn something she’s always wanted to do. Since she is from Greece, the language barrier has made things a little challenging at times but that hasn’t stopped her from making incredible progress.

Her journey is a beautiful reminder that it is never too late to chase a dream.

We’re so proud of her progress and grateful to be a small part of her journey.

Today we celebrated something special at the Easley YMCA, the graduation of our LIVESTRONG® participants!

Congratulations to Cynthia, Lucia and Susan on completing the program! We are so proud of each of you and all the hard work and dedication you poured into this class.

What makes LIVESTRONG® so special is the community built along the way. These three not only supported one another throughout the program, but became great friends.
