Hey all, next time you ride Sucker Springs, extend a thank you to the Vilas Saddle Club! With their efforts and finances, they expanded and leveled the parking lot! Their purpose in doing so was to increase the area necessary to aid and trail users with horse trailers, which also benefited us as well. Ultimately, signage will be erected specifying parking spaces for horse trailers on the left(west) side of the lot, which helps them facilitate using the loop road to exit the lot. In the meantime, us bikers using the trails should start using the right side(east) side of the lot. Once again, thanks for the upgrade!

The irony of this post is not lost on me! For the second day in a row, I have encountered a black bear on a ride, with todays being big and quite close! If you would like to have an encounter with a bear, Join the USFS and LAMBO this Saturday at 2:00 pm at Franklin Lake Beach parking lot at entrance of the Franklin Lake Campground. There's a good chance that the guy in the pic will be there as well!!

We will take on the challenging but beautiful Hidden Lakes Trail in it's entirety. This trail is better suited for the more experienced and fit rider, as it's completely singletrack and has a few(😎) hills! The loop is about 15 miles, with a couple smaller loops adding a couple more. If you don't wish to ride, but would like to stop by, be all means do so!

An informal meetup will happen at Tribute Brewery after, where takeout food is allowed. It appears live music will be on tap as well as cold 🍺! See ya there!

Second, a Hidden Lakes Trail Group ride at 2:00 PM from the Franklin Lake Beach parking lot, with a likely meetup after at Tribute Brewery! I will be at both, feel free to RSVP below. So, LAMBO now has two ways for you to celebrate National Trails Day! Meet at Sucker Springs Singletrack kiosk Saturday morning at 8:00 am on June 6, and help us start clearing the corridor for Scrape Line! Our newest trail construction project will begin at the end of June, bring small gas or electric chainsaws, work gloves, and bug spray! Then, a group ride at 2:00 pm on the most excellent Hidden Lakes Trail! Meet at the Franklin Lake Beach parking lot for that one! I plan on being at both, hope to see you at one or the other!
The pic is for attention, however it accurately portrays the older mountain bikers body😎

To celebrate National Trails Day, the USFS and LAMBO will be having a group ride at the Hidden Lakes Trail on Saturday, June 6 at 2:00 pm. We will be meeting at the Franklin Lake Beach Parking lot. The normal day use fees are exempt, so it's a great opportunity to come out and check out what I personally consider one of the most epic singletrack trails in the Northwoods. The USFS Trail Techs and volunteers have been hard at work out there and it's in the best conditions I've seen in my 37(😬) years of riding it! This trail requires a solid intermediate skill set as well as good fitness. The loop plus the additional Luna/White Deer loops is about 17-18 miles. Plan on 2.5-3 hours to complete the loop at a group friendly pace. There's an extremely high possibility of a meetup at Tribute Brewery afterwards as well! Hit me here with any questions!
