Durango Martial Arts Academy's goal is to use martial arts to be a positive influence in people's lives and in the community. We believe when people are healthy, more confident in their self defense abilities, and more confident in the

ir mental fortitude that society prospers as a whole. We focus on teaching the styles of martial arts that we believe provide the most benefit for our students in terms of practical self defense, physical conditioning, and enjoyment. Many of our students decide to test their skills and pursue martial arts competition. We pride ourselves on providing top notch coaching and preparation for anybody looking to step into the MMA cage, the kickboxing ring, or enter a BJJ competition. Whether you have never competed before or are a professional fighter, we can help to make your next competition a successful one.

So this flew a little under the radar, but we had to say congratulations to Professor on passing the test and earning her pink belt through the Gracie Jiu Jitsu Women’s Empowerment Program. Shiann has been training this self defense curriculum for years and it is really cool to see her dedication to this art and skill awarded. She has been teaching these skills at our Women’s Self Defense class every Friday at 10:30am (followed by her teaching Friday All Level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class at noon), and we would love for you to come learn! Again, massive respect and congratulations Professor Shiann!

This Saturday May, 2nd, we will be hosting a BJJ promotion ceremony for those who have been putting in the work! Class with Nico De Haan starts at 8am, promotion ceremony at 9am, followed by open mat. Come train and celebrate our Durango Martial Arts members and team mates who have been putting in the hours on the mat and sharpening their skills!
