🏃‍♂️ Central Lee XC fought hard at the Cedar Rapids Prairie Invitational (Orange Division) on Saturday! Competing against top competition, our teams brought home strong individual and team performances.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: MEET THE RUNNERS 🏃‍♂️💨

There is no better way to kick off our very first meet day than by honoring three of our senior leaders: Caden Crozier, Austin Fogarty, and Kaidin Humes!

Having been with our program for years, these three truly embody our theme this season: "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17). Through every practice, summer camp, and meet, whether running through blistering heat or freezing cold, they’ve pushed each other to new limits and helped build our team into what it is today.

From long runs at Indian Lake to post-run snacks ranging from bananas & Liquid IV, to raw honey, to full-on Pizza Ranch, these guys have made every mile memorable.

To Caden, Austin, and Kaidin: thank you for your dedication, leadership, and commitment. We are forever grateful for the mark you’ve left on this program.
Now, let's go make some noise at the starting line today! 🔥

Well, if this just doesn’t make last week’s practice feel even more special! 🥹 Congratulations Penny and family! 🐾

So a funny thing happened on the way to a motorcycle gathering last Friday night… Just so happens this young couple from Mathersville, Il 💁‍♀️ were riding their motorcycle past PAW Animal Shelter just as the Central Lee Cross Country Track Team was running dogs…and guess who caught their eye? Yep! Our sweet Penny. They came back to officially meet her and today came and make it official! Happy “Gotcha” Day Penny- a story to tell your grandchildren! ❤️❤️❤️

🏃‍♂️🍦 Will run for Hinterland Dairy! 🍦🏃‍♀️

Rain, shine, or oppressive summer humidity—our middle school and high school cross-country runners have been showing up and putting in the work! 🌧️☀️

Building the mileage and endurance for a successful season takes serious dedication, and we couldn’t be prouder of the grit these athletes have shown during our summer training runs.

But let’s be honest... surviving some of the hottest miles of the year is a whole lot easier when there’s a sweet reward waiting at the finish line! 😋

We want to send a massive THANK YOU to Hinterland Dairy! Having the support of an incredible local business makes our toughest summer runs the absolute most rewarding. Thank you for always welcoming our team, supporting our program, and helping our athletes cool down and refuel.

We are so lucky to have a community that stands behind our runners. Here’s to many more miles and many more scoops!

🏁 Districts @ Iowa City Regina🏁

Boys and Girls HS Teams represented Central Lee well at the District Meet with everyone running PRs or near PRs on a challenging course to finish the season!

🏃‍♂️HS Varsity Boys led by Austin Fogarty in 18:34.2, followed by Orion StClair, Caedon Newton, Caden Crozier, Kaidin Humes, Henry Robbins, and Jaedin Oglesby finished 10th out of 14 teams

🏃‍♀️HS Varsity Girls led by State Qualifying Aubree Bunnell in 20:56.5, followed by Macy Anderson, Afton Maynes, Charlee Clay, Evelyn Adkins, Gabby Maynes, and Saphire Cummings finished 6th out of 14 teams. The 6th place district finish is the highest team finish in over a decade.

Aubree Bunnell will represent the team on Friday, Oct. 31st, at the State Meet in Fort Dodge!
