The Detroit Lions enter 2026 looking to prove that last season was only a setback.

Detroit came into 2025 with high expectations, but a disappointing 9-8 campaign ended without a playoff appearance. Now, the Lions have an opportunity to reestablish themselves among the NFC's top contenders.

A healthier defense could play a major role in that response. Detroit had plenty of talent on that side of the ball last season, but injuries made it difficult for the unit to find consistency, with several important players missing time along the way.

Here were the Lions' total tackles leaders during the 2025 season:

💙 Jack Campbell — 176 tackles (89 solo)
🤍 Alex Anzalone — 95 tackles (52 solo)
💙 Derrick Barnes — 78 tackles (40 solo)
🤍 Brian Branch — 75 tackles (48 solo)
💙 Aidan Hutchinson — 54 tackles (36 solo)
🤍 Amik Robertson — 52 tackles (43 solo)
💙 Rock Ya-Sin — 47 tackles (27 solo)
🤍 D.J. Reed — 46 tackles (37 solo)
💙 Thomas Harper — 37 tackles (26 solo)

Even amid all that instability, Jack Campbell delivered a huge season. He finished with 176 total tackles and 89 solo stops, leading Detroit by a wide margin in both categories.

The group will look somewhat different in 2026. Alex Anzalone and Amik Robertson departed in free agency, while Brian Branch remains on the PUP list as he works toward returning during the season.

But Detroit still has plenty of defensive talent, with Campbell, Aidan Hutchinson and several other important pieces returning. After injuries disrupted the unit in 2025, a healthier group could make a major difference this time around.
