I will die on this hill: Strength training is not punishment.💪

❌You don’t need to “burn off” dinner.

❌You don’t need to “earn” your carbs.

❌You don’t need to destroy yourself in the gym because you had dessert.

❌And you DEFINITELY don’t need to spend 90 minutes doing burpees because you had a particularly enthusiastic weekend with BBQ and drinks. 😂

Strength training is about something much more useful: Being strong enough for your actual life.

✅Carrying your bike.
✅Climbing stairs.
✅Picking up your senior dog.
✅Traveling.
✅Hiking.
✅Riding.
✅Getting off the floor without issues.
✅Maintaining muscle as you age.
✅Feeling capable in your body.

And yes, looking badass is allowed, too. 😍

Your body isn’t a problem that needs to be punished into submission - it’s the place you get to live your entire life, so let’s treat it accordingly.

09/07/2026

Long weekends don’t mean you need to let your goals completely derail off the side of a mountain. 🙈

Instead, try to be PRESENT.

Try to deliberately and mindfully make the best decisions for yourself in the moment, without adding even more pressure to yourself to do *all the things perfectly.*

Remind yourself that “perfect” doesn’t exist anyways, but CONSISTENCY is what makes a huge difference in getting results more than anything.

I see wayyyyyy too many people beat themselves over “not doing enough” or “not being perfect” with things, when in actuality they really need to focus on doing things consistently more than perfectly.

Enjoy the burger with friends this weekend. Enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two if that’s important to you. Enjoy the moments you have with the people who are important to you.

Know that these moments do NOT make up the whole story for your progress - it’s the way you show up on most of the other days that matters most.

Everything in moderation, including moderation.

What would happen if you stopped believing you needed to finish everything?🤔

Maybe you’d:
👉have more energy.
👉stop carrying tomorrow’s tasks around in your head while you’re supposed to be enjoying today.
👉notice that some of the things you’ve been treating like emergencies are actually just things that can wait.😂
👉have more space for your people, your body, your mind, your hobbies, or even for sitting on the couch without feeling like you should be doing something else.

And maybeeeeee you’d realize that your worth was never hiding inside your productivity.

There will always be something on your to-do list left unfinished - that’s just being a human with a finite amount of time and energy living in a world that will happily hand you an infinite number of things to do.

So perhaps the goal isn’t to finish everything - maybe the goal is to decide what matters enough to finish - and then give yourself permission to leave the rest for another day.

🎧 I go much deeper into this in the latest episode of Making Shift Happen: Your To-Do List Will Never Love You Back.

And I’m curious: What would you do with the extra mental space if you stopped trying to finish everything? 👀

Your to-do list will never love you back.

I know. Harsh. 😂

If you’re a high-achieving human, there’s a decent chance your to-do list has quietly become your boss, your judge, and occasionally your f*cking enemy.

You finish 12 things on your list and somehow your brain goes:

✨What’s next? ✨

And that’s the problem! There will ALWAYS be another email, task, and another thing you could improve, organize, optimize, respond to, or “just quickly knock out.” 👀 I’ve said that to myself manyyyyyy times before. 😂

So, if your definition of a successful day is “I finished everything on my list,” you are playing a game you literally cannot win.

In the newest episode of Making Shift Happen, we’re talking about:
👉how to figure out what actually matters
👉the difference between urgent and important
👉why a “not today” list might save your sanity
👉defining what “done” means to YOU
👉creating an end-of-day shutdown ritual
👉and how to stop letting your productivity determine whether you feel like you did “enough” 🤦‍♀️

Because your life is not a series of tasks waiting to be completed - your life is what happens between the things on your to-do list… and you are NOT a productivity machine.

And then tell me: what’s one thing on your to-do list that absolutely does NOT need to happen today? 👇

It’s chic to take care of yourself, and I’m here for this energy!✨

Somewhere along the way, you may have decided that being exhausted, overbooked, underfed, overstimulated, and permanently “behind” just wasn’t working for you.

Instead, focus on:
✨adequate sleep
✨unsexy early bedtimes
✨lifting heavy things (to you)
✨taking rest days
✨learning to regulate your nervous system back to a baseline that feels best to you
✨having hobbies for fun and not a side hustle
✨going outside (maybe just to stare at a tree)
✨saying no unless it’s a hell yes!
✨not feeling you have to wreck yourself in every workout, bike ride, or run

This is very chic.

This is giving “I love myself and don’t hate myself” vibes and I approve.

If you’re a high-achieving human who seems to be REALLY good at taking care of everyone else around you and not yourself, consider this your sign.

Self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate.
It can be simple yet effective.

The goal isn’t perfection.

The goal is having a life you actually have the energy to participate in.

And THAT is kinda chic.💁‍♀️

You’re not lazy or undisciplined. And you probably don’t need another motivational bro-podcast yelling at you to “GET AFTER IT - YOU JUST NEED MORE DISCIPLINE.”🤢

Your problem is you have too much friction.

👎Your workout is 90 minutes long.
👎Your bike isn’t ready.
👎You haven’t eaten a snack.
👎You’re checking work email while working out. (Why?!)
👎Your calendar looks like it hates you.

And then you wonder why you can’t “find the motivation.”

Friend, instead of asking yourself “How do I become more motivated?”

Try asking “How can I make this easier to start?”

✅Do the shorter workout.
✅Put your workout clothes out the night before.
✅Keep a snack in your gym bag.
✅Schedule your workout BEFORE the space gets claimed on your calendar.

This is more about making the healthy choice the convenient choice - which makes it wayyyyy more possible.

You don’t need “more discipline” or to “harden TF up.” 🙄

You just need to stop making your desired behavior really f*cking difficult for yourself.

What is ONE thing you could make easier this week? Let us know below!👇

Does burnout start with an overloaded calendar… or an overloaded nervous system? 👀

I asked Master Health Coach Jen Kates and her answer changes the way we think about being “busy,” stressed, and constantly running on empty.

We get into burnout, stress, strength, recovery, and what women can start doing NOW to protect their health for the years ahead.

Just a reminder for you today as you stare at your to-do list. 🥴

You don’t have to do EVERYthing.

You really don’t.

Choose the top 1-3 things to do today, and leave it at that.

Tell your boss I said so. And if you’re the boss, then ease up a little. 😉😂

Don’t be a hero today - just do the 1-3 things you feel like you MUST or WANT to do.

Love you, mean it! 😘

Friend, you gotta eat something to start your day.

If you want to fast, then fast if it works for you.

But for most people, having a balanced meal is what will help give you energy for your morning and into lunchtime.

“Balanced meal” means it includes at least a palm size of protein as well as a cup of carbs and a thumb or two size of fat.

Protein ideas: 🥚🍳🥩🍗🫘🫛🍣🍤🐟
Carb ideas: 🍌🍓🫐🥣🥞🧇🥔🍠
Fat ideas: 🫒🥑🥜🌰🧈

Most of the time, I see folks who skip breakfast completely and they wonder why they’re unable to focus at work, are a bit moody, and then are RAVENOUS at lunchtime and find themselves head first in a bag of Oreos.

Stop the madness! Start your day off with a solid meal and see what a difference it makes!

🚨 New podcast episode! 🚨

When was the last time you sat down and did absolutely nothing without immediately thinking about everything you should be doing? 👀

If your brain starts saying:
“I should answer that email.”
“I should fold the laundry.”
“I should workout.”
“I should meal prep.”
“I should probably reorganize my entire life while I’m at it.”
Then this episode is for you, haha!

Because for so many of you busy, high-achieving humans, relaxing has somehow become a skill you forgot how to do.

And even when you DO stop moving, your brains are still restless and beating yourself up.

In this week’s episode of Making Shift Happen, we’re talking about:
✨ Why rest can trigger guilt
✨ Why collapsing on the couch while scrolling isn’t great recovery
✨ How to shift out of “go mode”
✨Why you don’t need to earn your rest
✨ How to practice actually relaxing without turning it into another thing to optimize

You are allowed to rest before you’re completely exhausted. You don’t have to finish the entire to-do list before “earning your rest” - because you will never finish your to do list. 😂
