Sarah is in New York & found the name of the 9/11 hero that she will be climbing stairs for at the World Trade Center Stair Climb/1 Mi Walk this Friday, 5 & 6:30 pm. Crown Point. She says…

“Hey! Thank you SO much for posting the first responder we’re paired with for the climb. We’re actually in New York right now, so tonight I was able to find his name at the 9/11 Memorial. ❤️ It made the climb feel so much more personal and real to me. Tomorrow, we’re going to visit the firehouse he was from, too. I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to learn more about him and honor him during the climb.”

From Extra Mile... "Calling all local walkers, runners, gyms, chiropractors, podiatrists, physical therapists, massage therapists, and other health and wellness providers—to participate.

The hope is to create connections beyond the run itself. If a runner needs help with an injury, recovery, strength training, cross-training, or simply staying healthy, they will already know some of the great local resources available to them."

Today's photo is from a late afternoon run with Paul this week. The storm and loss of power through off our regular meetups. It was particularly humid. The sign posted at the park now says sunset is at 7:30. The days a re getting shorter and I dread that, in no time.. it will say 4:30. But, with all of this....

We got to run and visit , share stories and concerns.. I think running is all about mental health & it just happens to also involve physical movement!

But why not "First 10K" or "First Half"? That was a suggestion from last year's Hub City Races: Half, 10K & 5K. So, this year we ARE!

Run you r First 5K, 10K or Half at the Hub City Races: Half, 10K & 5K & you will get a special "First" medal! Sunday, Sept. 13th in Crown Point.

A week from today, we will honor 9/11 Heroes at the World Trade Center Stair Climb/1 Mi Walk . Everyone will climb or walk wearing a wristband with the name of one of the heroes.

First Responders... some in full firefighter gear... will join us. Some will wear weight vests to make it harder.

Many participants have paid the entry fee for a First Responder.

Many more have donated for local disaster relief & to help our local fire departments.

Carrie will be walking the World Trade Center Stair Climb/1 Mi Walk on Friday, Sept. 11th, 6:30 pm at the Fairgrounds to honor John Moran.

At only 43, Chief John Moran had just finished his shift when the World Trade Center call came in and he responded. Moran played the piano and guitar and loved to sing Irish songs. He also regularly rode in an Iowa biking tour with other police & firefighters.
