Just in case you aren't familiar with passive VS active stretches...
An active stretch happens when you use your own muscles to hold the pose,
while a passive stretch happens when an external support helps you hold it, like the floor, a wall, or (like in this case) your own hand.
I really like to add active stretches to my practices: I'm sure you can tell I was struggling in the active version of tiger pose! 😅

If there's one thing I never skip when I practice yoga is cat-cow in the warm-up. Which variation do you prefer? Classic, with fingertips facing the back of the mat, on the forearms, or with knees off the mat?

I always recommend yogis to prep their body before practicing intense yoga poses, but if there is one asana I really suggest yogis not to just drop into is pigeon pose (kapotasana - not to be confused with single-legged pigeon pose). It requires a ton of flexibility, strength, and mobility!

A good prep goes a long way especially when the asana is as complex as 8 angle pose (astavakrasana).
